Microsoft really only has two possibilities for them. Either Sony messes up, or Microsoft dumps a couple dumptrucks worth of money on third parties causing everyone other than them to experience large gaps in their game releases. Microsoft's strength is that they are pretty much guaranteed to be able to secure themselves a copy of all the third party multiplatform games.

Maybe I did read it on here. It has to be very close and still selling way more than the Wii, so if it hasnt happened, it will soon.

Scenarios that I can see MS winning a generation in lifetime sales against Sony:

1. They have a revolutionary idea for their system that catches on like wildfire

2. They offer more or less the same thing the PS competition has in its console for a significantly lower price (like $150+ price difference I'd say)

3. Sony completely fucks up their system by, for example trying something revolutionary with it that just doesn't find a market

Those are the more or less realistic scenarios, nothing like "MS buys exclusivity to all third party franchises or some shit like that"

Other than that it's hard for MS to do, the PS brand is just way stronger.

I mean they can easily make a PS4 killer cheaper than the PS4. Scratch that they could easily kill the whole Playstation brand if they would want to.

Make a console and sell for 200 bucks thats actually worth 800 or so. (like sony lost money on every PS3 for years)
Make publishers release games without MS getting the fair share. (game prices would go from 60 to 50)
make multiplayer FREE again.
Pay alot for exclusives

MS just doesnt seem to care much about "winning". But tbh last gen had 2 winners Wii because well it won and 360 because it tripled its userbase only Sony lost..


Btw does anyone know if its ILLEGAL to make a console that plays the competitions games? if the PS4 killer would share even more tech with the PS4 than the PS4 does with the XBO wouldn't it be possible to play PS4 games? I guess encrypting the drive keys etc would be the illegal part right?

PS3 caught up because Sony was willing to sacrifice billions and billions of dollars. Hence, they bought a sales lead over the 360.

The biggest reason MS won't win a gen is because they don't care enough. Nintendo is all about gaming. Sony's best thing going might be gaming. Game consoles don't bring in mega profits these days and the market seems to be shrinking.

I want to say no. To me, MS has always been the red headed, step child, it's just not quite loved enough. That is not to say it can't be successful. The 360 stole a huge amount of thunder from Sony and the PS3.

When Sony and Nintendo goes under.

Once the PC eradicates the console, yes, Microsoft will be the sole winner. Hell, if you count PC, Microsoft's winning right now.

NGC sold pretty much as Xbox, although the xbox got BIG 3rd party support and lots of fucking promotion.
Xbox360 again ended up the last. LOL PS3 did sooooo bad and overpassed Xbox360!!
This gen again... Nobody knows. Personally I think PS4 is counting days but I am pretty sure xbone will end up the last.
