Sadly, last gen was the only chance the Microsoft ever had at winning but since Sony has their shit together in the console space that won't be happening again much like how Intel didn't screw up again ever since the Pentium 4.

keep in mind they won 4th gen(the most competitive gen in history) against sega(they were doing commercials against nintendo and saying "sega does what nintendont")
Bets:
(Won)Bet with TechoHobbit: He(Techno) says 10 million by January 1,2014 I say 9 million by then. Winner gets 2 weeks of sig control.
(Lost)Bet with kinisking: I say Ps4 will win April NPD while he says Xbox One will win it; winner gets 1 week of avatar control.
Raichu's First Series:
Official Ni No Kuni Fanboy:
Familiars Captured:37
Game Beaten: 2 times almost
Times I got teary during some scenes: 3
Nope. The one gen they had a chance (last gen) Nintendo just tore it up.
Thanks jlmurph!
I suppose anything is possible, but I'm gonna say no. I think Microsoft will be the next to drop out of the console business. Xbox barely outsold Gamecube, half of the 360 numbers are RROD replacements, and the Xbone has been selling at WiiU levels for months.

Yeah, its pretty much the only gen so far that hasnt had a clear winner.
Nah, most likely not. They don't have the brand image world wide for it.
It's going to be hard. The Xbox brand is not as big as the Playstation brand and it doesn't look like it's going to gain much traction this gen. Basically, Playstation would have to pull an Xbox One and Nintendo would have to pull a ... Wii U. Hm.
Outside North America, it would be a real up-hill struggle. They'd have to score a clean win in terms of games and hardware, as Playstation would almost certainly win with a tie on those fronts.
The good news is that every major console manufacturer has stumbled at least once over their own arrogance. Sony twice, Nintendo twice, and now even the new kid on the block, Microsoft. It's certainly not outside the realm of possibility for both Sony and Nintendo to fudge up in the same gen.
One strategy to gain market share would be to kill the Xbox One early and grab a head-start. It worked before.
