Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Microsoft shutting down Xbox Entertainment Studios, curtailing original series programming

Now what about all those XOne owners who bought the console just because of the original ser.....
This just in, there were none of those.
Best thing that could have happened to XBox.

This is great news, right!
This will improve game quality, and help them make more money!
It's amazing how far xb1 has come in just a year!

Predictable comments as usual.First praise MS vision than praise the change when it was obvious the original vision was bad.Game quality still won't improve as usual.

Actually aside from Halo nightfall and Halo TV series next year.....nobody cared about the origional programming. Now it just means that wasteful money will go towards 1st and 3rd party efforts. This is actually good news.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Not sure why the quality of a game will be better without a show about Football players but all I can say is that I won't miss it at all. Only thing I'm interested in is shows about Halo and at least Nightfall will still come. I hope they will still make shows about Halo in the future but that can be also done from other companies if necessary and wanted by enough people.

“Halo,” the first major project spearheaded by the division, is in advanced negotiations for a pickup at Showtime in a shared window with Xbox. That project, co-produced with Amblin TV, is expected to continue with Microsoft’s backing

All I need to know. Cut the rest. I didn't care much for the non-Halo programming anyway. Better to put that money into 3rd party moneyhatting!

I don't think they are gonna give the Xbox division more money. I just think they are trying to lower costs as much as possible.

Will this affect Quantom Break in anyway?

no the show is apart of the game.

Not sure what this means but there could be more delays.

Ah so Quantum Break doesn't have a TV show. Still looks great on its own and will be great on its own.

Its more than a TV show. TV segments are part of the actual story of the game.
