great news for me as ms shareholder

Yep, up nearly 3% on the news today.

Hopefully not all at once, or the job market's going to get insanely competitive.

Maybe fire 100 at a time so they all have time to find a job. If they worked for a company like Microsoft, their resume's shouldn't make it impossible to find another decent job if they play it right. Praying regardless.

Posting the obvious, but wow that's a lot!

No its not all at once.  In some cases employees get to re-interview for their jobs if there is overlap.  Its a very long and drawn out process especially for such a large number of employees.  The problem with Nokia employees is that MS is a global company that has a lot of the same people.  Usually its the merged company that get hit the hardest when cuts are made.

Luckily many of them should find a good new job without too many difficulties, MS competitors will like to hire the most skilled ones, and as MS is going to one-sidedly terminate the jobs, every non compete clause in its favour is automatically void.

Damn that sucks. Well at least it's because MS is employing too many people with the Nokia overlap with WIndows phone division as opposed to cutting jobs to stem losses

I see what u did there.

I have not the foggiest idea what you are inferring.

:OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

*Jaw Drops* That is.......A Lot!

Awful news for those affected but I am sure most will find new jobs fast. Shareholders should be very happy with these news, just goes to show how bizarre the world is.
