Finally made it through all these posts!

Must have been entertaining

To be honest, towards the end, I just kind of skimmed through some posts. But I made it, so I feel accomoplished.

But only if the hardware sales create the install base. Sure, sales don't have to be spectacular, but they have to be significantly better than they were for the first 5 months of 2014. June NPD is not a basis for concluding a significant improvement in sales long term.

@ the baseball analogy. I would say MS has got one man on base with Sony having hit 2 homers, so if Sony strikes out then MS has a chance of hitting a home run and drawing level. The game ain't over and we're not even in the middle innings. But for now there's nothing to indicate that MS can take a lead in the immediate future.

Anyway a cricket analogy would work better, but fewer people understand that than baseball so I won't bother.

Bad analogy really IMO.

More like a football analogy of PS4 being Germany and XB1 being Brazil. :p

Because it was?

The first weeks of the price cut were great then it dropped off big time. I dont know whats so hard to ubderstand about that.

Not to mention GameStop is one retailer. Best Buy and Wal Mart are massive electronics sellers as well and I know exactly zero about what they sell. I dont and have never claimed that i speak for industry sales.

its like we go through this every month. people just dont get it. my advise, just ignore it.

Nice to see WiiU's great sales confirmed, but wow PS4 is severely under-tracked.

Newbie with a question! *holds up hand* So, already figured that VGChartz tends to make a number of mistakes when it comes to tracking hardware, and inevitably ends up adjusting its North America numbers post-release of the NPD and/or other reputable sources.

But since the NPD only extends to a portion of the market, is there an Asian or European equivalent that releases similar reports, sets the record straight, as it were? o.o Essentially asking whether VGChartz ever adjusts its European and Japan numbers, or if it's safe to say they're prooobably as inaccurate as the pre-adjustment U.S. numbers.

Awesome, thank you! ^_^ Only reason I ask is there's been some reports cropping up that total hardware count for the Xbox One was over five mil at this point, and the PS4 at 9 million. Supposedly an interview in Edge magazine, but I haven't been able to track down the source itself, so I can't even say whether it was 'shipped to retailers or sold through' numbers, ala quarterly finances report. Was initially wondering maybe there was some severe undertracking in non-NPD regions, but if there's adjustments done, then it's looking just as likely that the articles were either PR talkin, or even outright mistaken.

usually always when WW total numbers are giving like that there always shipped like recently with WD and MK8

noone can give sold through numbers but NPD VGC and MC famitsu aswell as the rare occation that we get some numbers from the big EU countrys which for all these sources they are estamites all those others are shipped b/c there is really no way to track sold to costumers.   when a game comes out and days later you get X sold this amount its shipped theres no way that in a few days someone can track SW sales to consumers that quick

nintendo would most likely do a bundle this holiday(dont say 3d world didnt because they were expecting that to sell because its their "3d mario")

plus its one of the biggest console franchises in japan(se brawl,3ds, and melee for example) add to that it will have lots of exposure with amiibo

Japan does not matter in NPD.

well im going off topic

here smash bros  has a huge competitive community plus it can be played by everyone halo is more limited towards teens(holidays are mostly getting gifts for the kids)

you know what heck with this 3ds will win november because of poekmon so none of them will win(yes i know its a remake but the lowest selling remake was at 10 million on gameboy :P only for gameboy advance so it was around a 40 million install base

You're absolutely wrong and have no idea what you're talking about. Halo 2 and 3 are 2 of the most competitve games to come out of MLG. Anyone who is a MLG fan young or old will tell you that Halo 2 has the best fps console pvp multiplayer of all time. The strategy that takes place in an Arena fps is far more advanced than a regular arcade shooter.
