Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Best Way to buy a Wii U

Here's the deal, I'm not a fan of the direction nintendo decided to go with Wii U, however, I'm a huge Smash fan, Mario Kart fan etc. I'm wondering what is the best most cost effective way to buy this machine. Is it the NSMB Luigi U bundle? Or MK8 bundle? Or is it a refubrished Wii U and buy the games seperate?

I want DKC, NSMBU, MK8 and Smash, for me 4 games is the tipping point for a console. Help me out guys.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

Mario Kart 8 bundle if you can find it cause u get Mario Kart 8 and one more free digital game depending on where you are from (I believe), if you can't find one, then the most cost effective way is to get a refurbished wiiU

https://store.nintendo.com/ng3/us/po/browse/productDetailColorSizePicker.jsp?productId=prod150200

It comes with Nintendoland, costs $200, its the deluxe edition so it has the promotion which still valid and has one year warrenty

If you still don't like that, then I suggest waiting for the holidays and get the ones on sales or the ones that have deals or maybe someone else has a better deal

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

Get the MK8 bundle!

Hey Jizz thanks a lot. I'm from NY, so I'm sure I can find a deal.

I think the MK8 bundle is sold out everywhere, so go with Jizz's idea and get the refurb

In Australia the basic white Wii Us are substantially cheaper than the black premium model (although they are disappearing fast). Id suggest getting a basic model if it is a lot cheaper and you dont care about the slight extras the premium model comes with.

Although I am not sure how much cheaper they are in America.

If you want my opinion, buy a new WiiU, not refurnished! You know it comes brand new and it is good value for money future-wise. I am sure you can grab wii u deals but since you are in USA, mario kart bundle rocks!!! Go for it!

Yeah, if you're going for pure value and don't mind a refurbished unit then get the one from Nintendo for $200. Just make sure you buy Mario Kart (just under $50 right now on Amazon) and register it before the end of the month to get your free NSMBU.

That way you'll be getting MK8, NSMBU and Nintendoland for around $250.

I think Jizz's idea maybe the best to go with ... It's pretty hard to beat a deal like that with a 1 year warranty.
