Forums - Nintendo Discussion - A New Content Model for Nintendo

You wouldn't like to have new tracks and features added to Mario kart? The games would be as big as they are now, but instead of worrying about making a new game in that franchise, they could dedicate a smaller team to making updates and dlc and the rest of the team would move on. This would also ease up development in some ways since the handheld and console will have the same games.

Well they can do that without a subscription model though.

I rather have the full game first with optional and fair DLC than wait years for more stuff added.....

I would hate Nintendo if that happened. :(

Huh? You misunderstood completely what I said. Right now you wait years for new games in some series, what I'm saying would  mean a steady flow of new content for each game.

Oh thats even worse!!! It would take me years to finish one game........ :(

The waiting, the suspence, the........I cant take it anymore and its not even  happenomng!!! D:

Not necessarily you'd just have years of SUPPORT.

Well, it obviously works for Mario Kart. Adding new tracks over time would be great. It doesn't work for Zelda in my opinion. Zelda has a story arc that is completed after the main game. What will you add? After you saved the world you will help out this village with a haunted house or something? Everything after the main adventure would seem lame.
Metroid might work. Samus is a bounty huner, additional content might contain smaller bounty hunting episodes between the main adventures.

That's what I said originally too.

I wouldn't want this for every game, but for Mario Kart, Smash, Monster Hunter, all online multiplayer games, this is a great way to keep people playing. I wouldn't mind it all. For Zelda, however, I'd rather them making individual games.

Yeah, Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros. are two games that could benefit greatly from DLC.

There could be any number of things for Zelda. Extra dungeons that expands on the lore of the time period in Zelda history that it takes place. Side stories like of Zelda or impacts or anyone really. There are a ton of possibilities.

I wouldn't mind some of the challenge dungeons like cave of ordeals, but I'd rather have two full-fledged Zelda games than one Zelda game with dlc.

Never.

No, it shouldn't be integral part of their business model. I'm sure it would affect the original games.

Just add some contents to games where it makes sense, but not too much.
