It is kinda a dumb video honestly. But the reasons why the PS4's selling well are obvious:

1) It offers more value.

2) People know it will get more and better games. Sony has never failed to deliver in this department for several generations, and so people trust them. Trust is earned.

3) Massive perception and good-will advantage.

The Wii is a special case because is tracked way ahead of anything in the history and ended short of the PS1 while its first years promissed that it would surpass the PS2. It is different. Despite that, we can't compare PS4 sales with mid gen sales of PS360 because these consoles, just like PS2 or others before, have their peak years in the middle of the gen because they have better price points and more games to add value. Early gen data can only be compared to early gen data.

The 100k baseline didn't happen that easily for home consoles in the first year, just mid gen, so it isn't a fair comparison. I couldn't get 2013 PS3 data and compare with PS4 as I can't use 2011 PS3 data. The only reasonable comparisons are 2006/07 X360, 2007 PS3 and 2000 PS2 and similar time frames.



Bet with jetforcejiminy: PS4 will pass the Wii lifetime numbers.

Let's end this discussion since it's pretty clear it's going nowhere... And pretty much the Wii and PS2 were flops because PS4 is ahead of them even if it isn't a good seller.

@.@ Nobody is arguing that the PS4 had a bad launch...we are and always have been talking about the current baseline in comparison to what has been considered good over the last 6 years.

Once again, I've said 100x that the PS4 is selling well, so your sarcastic "Wii and PS2 were flops" sounds pretty silly...

I'm French, and perhaps that's why I'm curious to understand what is this style purpose. Is it disdainful ?

Sounds like excuses. Also what kind of fanboy does he sound like, because BrokenGamez is a PC gamer. He only buys exclusives on console. Perhaps he sounds like a fanboy to you because you disagree with him?

Compare its sales to the Wii's first summer (2007) where it had a baseline around 250k, or check out the summer of 2008 where all three consoles and both handhelds were routinely over 100k in sales...Yeah, 100k for the first summer is good but is it something to brag about? Not really...

Also, I mainly said he sounded like a fanboy because of all the "Playstation always delivers" talk...it just sounds like he is over selling it a bit and it sounds silly.

I was going on about him labelling the dude a fanboy. That Playstation always delivers talk his was bashing on about is true. It was from the dude experience with playstation console(just like many others) that they can say that statement.
