It's been the final name since they started using the name. That was them revealing the name. But in true Nintendo fashion, it's left people scratching their heads even now, mere months before launch.

Why not? I don't think they would call it like that 3 months before it's release if it wasn't the final name. (3DS at least)

I think the names are fine. They are kinda boring but they won't confuse people. I suppose maybe they should name the 3DS version something else.
