Forums - Microsoft Discussion - MS's Harvey Eagle: Doesn't personally see graphical differences, says resolution differences a 'perception challenge'

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/471047/resolutiongate-a-perception-challenge-that-must-be-fixed-says-xbox-exec/

Xbox UK marketing boss Harvey Eagle told CVG that, while he doesn't personally see a meaningful graphical difference between PS4 games and their Xbox One equivalents, he does understand the negative publicity has become an issue.

"I think it's a perception challenge, absolutely," Eagle told CVG.

"If you put third-party games side-by-side that are running at slightly different resolutions or frame rates, then unless you are using a screen that's more than 60 inches big, I defy you to really see the difference. I personally struggle to see the difference."

"It's important, certainly. It's something the media has certainly picked up on. If that leads to the perception that one machine is more powerful than another, then it's important, and we're trying to allow developers to bring games to Xbox One at the highest resolution and frame rate as possible."

"There is some GPU power that can be allocated to Kinect that we're now freeing up for developers if they want to increase the fidelity of their games. I want to point out though that this is absolutely up to the developer on how they deploy the power."

I am not concerned about resolution wars whatsoever but as a gamer I have to say, 60 inches or larger TVs since 2008 and would never think about going back.

Of course it's a perception challenge. Consumers are perceiving the PS4 games as better looking.

Eyes will do that to people.

This is a risky one xD

This resolution thing will not affect Xbox One sales. People cannot tell the difference.

Playstation fans are hoping this resolution thing will help PS4 sell more than Xbox One.

PS4 was selling more than Xbox One because of price not resolution.

Now that Xbox One is the same price as PS4 sales will be more even.

And when games like call of duty halo gears of war come out on Xbox One. Xbox One will sell more than PS4.

Sony will have to come out with some amazing games to stop Xbox One.

What will affect Xbox One is a lack of exclusives.

People will choose the Xbox One over the PS4 based on exclusive games. Which Xbox One have tons of this generation.

The Xbox One will be just fine.

100 Million Xbox One's will happen.

Agreed.  I have shopped around and after having 60" so long all I want is bigger now.

So there it is. IF you load the games up on 60 inch TVs right next to each other, there is a difference.

Not sure how that really matters in a more practical gaming environment....

It is near the end of the end....

There is a reason why he doesn't see it...

I have a 2010 82" Mitsubishi Diamond DLP and a 2013 60" LG Passive 3D Smart 240hz Trumotion LED.  I like both of them for different reasons, but yeah bigger is better FOR SURE if the room size, acoustics, and setting is right!  I wish I had gone non3D on the LG and gotten a 70" or 75" instead.  The 3D gaming is awesome but I don't really use it enough to justify it.  Also if you drink, the 3D makes you feel like you're going to barf.

wow some people are still living in dream worlds.

and If he cant see the difference he needs to see an optometrist.
