Forums - Nintendo Discussion - My prediction- Wii U sales are reverse Nintendo

What I mean by this is that I see it selling larger amounts of hardware later in its life cycle. Look at Wii's sales, how it started off strong but hit a bump in 2011 from which it couldn't recover. Wii U may have started off like that but will recover. I actually forsee many XB1/PS4 owners picking up a Wii U later in its life once a price cut occurs and the library increases. Though Wii U will never sell like it's older brother, I don't think it will sell less than GameCube. Hell, I see it beating N64 in the long run

XBOX ONE/Wii U/3DS/PC

RIP Iwata 12/6/1959-7/11/2015

Thanks for all the great memories!

i see it beating n64 as well.

i then forsee threads from 2013 about the wii u selling less than gamecube being bumped in 2018 or so and everybody is going to laugh at how stupid we were all being for saying that.

The Wii U and Wii were offered to two completely different crowds. See the third party and first party sales between the two to see what I mean. One was sold to non-gamers who dont following gaming and the other console was too niche but had the core Nintendo following like the GC and N64 before it. It will beat the Gamecube at best but it wont beat the N64.

That isnt how console sales work...

How do you expect what your proposing to happen if the WII U's 2015 line up is weaker than 2014 ? The same goes for the next year after that ...

Edit: Moderated - Starcraft

That would be an amazing sight, but sadly it's extremely unlikely...

Or Perhaps xbox one/ps4 owners will wait till the console is dead till they buy the wii u like I always tend to do with nintendo consoles, just bought the wii ^_^

Well, in my opinion, 2015's line up is stronger than 2014's for Wii U. Zelda, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Mario Maker, Splatoon, Yoshi's Woolly World, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, and that's just the stuff we know about so far. Sure, none of those games is generally thought of as a "system seller" to the extent that Mario Kart and Smash Bros. are, but other than those two games, the 2015 line up already surpasses this year's line up for me.

Upcoming Games To Get

Definite: Kirby Star Allies (Switch), Mario Tennis Aces (Switch), Fire Emblem (Switch), Yoshi (Switch), Pokemon (Switch), Kingdom Hearts 3 (PS4), Monster Hunter World (PS4)

Considering: Fe (Switch), Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze (Switch), The World Ends With You (Switch), Ys VIII (Switch), Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition (PS4), Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Remix (PS4), The Last Guardian (PS4), Shadow of the Colossus HD (PS4), Anthem (PS4), Shenmue 3 (PS4), WiLD (PS4)

Well I hope you're right! I predict it will outsell the GameCube but definitely not the N64.
