Forums - Gaming Discussion - How microsoft plan to stealthily bring back Always Online

http://www.inquisitr.com/1340653/ps4-vs-xbox-one-cloud-project-morpheus/

“Cloud Gaming is an overloaded term which is used to refer to an assortment of game distribution and monetization models. In this talk Microsoft will suggest that by thinking more in terms of the cloud and gaming, we can settle on a set of use cases for cloud computing technologies in gaming that embraces creating new or enhanced user experiences to the shift to Games-as-a-Service. In doing so we see more clearly how cloud will become a necessary part of every game.”

------------

So single player games and campaign/store modes which use the cloud will be always online, if they use the cloud on xbox one. Phil Spencer is 100x better than Don Mattrick ever was, but I still think we need some time to judge if he really is the saving grace.

I thought people didn't believe in TEH CLOUD power?

I think both feet are already shot at this point, better try the arms.

maybe the cloud will just make it better when connected to the internet, this discussion has been done on neogaf and it seems alot of them think so too.

i can understand concerns though, but we dont know if this will introduce always online. and i really wouldnt give two sh@ts if it was always online so thats pretty much why i have a more lax attitude towards it i suppose.

I already talked about this somewhere else
judging by the salty replies i thought it best to not talk about it, if people want for MS to screw them over, that's up to them..
What MS wants to do with the cloud effectively means always-on DRM for every game. Not a 24 hour check, not restricted to digital only, but every game, and every second of gameplay.
After what happened last year people should know that instead of just trusting or being optimistic won't work, they need to say no to MS. Unless they want it..but that's their problem, not mine.

Well, isn't PS Now Sonys first step into this as well? Or do people actually think they don't want this future as well? Personally, I hope both companies go this route sooner rather than later.

Shocking! Its the 21st century. Get over it.

Well I'm glad Sony doesn't require always on for PS Now for their Cloud solution. Ohhh wait... You need to be always online to read the Cloud. Silly me, but it's ok if Sony does it. Boooo M$ always online Cloud.
