Forums - Sony Discussion - Yoshida: Uncharted a good candidate for remaster

clearly that 50% is BS every sony fanboy bought it by now who obviously had a ps3.

How about no? What's so hard to accept about people that didn't own a PS3 buying a PS4?

LOL heck, why stop there? Remaster the whole library why don't you? Who needs new games anyway

We wouldn't be getting these remasters if the consoles were backwards compatible. Think of it this way, they save money by not adding BC and then make remakes which give them more money when selling them instead of having the used game market just allowing old games to be played.

Clever Sony, clever.

Still better than no DRM check.

I think this is multi facetted:

 - A remake that runs in 1080p/60fps is worth much more to me than the original 720p/sub 30fps games, so backward compatibility or not, I would buy remakes like those for the games I want to replay (Uncharted series, God of War 3 come to mind)...

 - Backward compatibility with the Cell would have allowed me to keep games that already run great on the PS3, like Wipeout HD, however, the cell architecture is useless these days because it would have cost a lot of money to develop something that performs as well or worst than the GPU they have in there right now and we would have ended with a 600$+ console again, not only that but they would have been locked in with nvidia, which are notoriously bad business partners for a console maker (they keep the price of their parts relatively high).

Now hopefully they will add emulated backward compatibility for PS1 and PS2 titles, so we can pop-in our very old discs and at least play these games.

So all in all, it makes sense that Sony (and MS) went in the direction they did, it's a question of bang for the bucks.

Please, no more remasters. If people want Uncharted, they can buy a PS3 for cheap and pick it up in the bargain bin.

                                                                                                               You're Gonna Carry That Weight.

We are few of a total audience though, I am not concerned over HD remakes when I have a working console with the Uncharted series on still. But I understand your reasoning.

Sadly, while PS2 emulation could happen, but I thought the PS4 didn't have CD ROM technology in it so PS1 discs could not be read anyway.

Hmm, pie.

Sounds like John Koller's statement about the Vita back in September 2012.  Look what happened though, the Vita received port after port after port from Sony.  Sony said the same thing back then, they're saying the same thing right now.  There will be exclusives and support for the PS4 because it's doing well, but doesn't change the fact that the system hasn't got shit worth of games and is getting ports left and right right now.

If they really want to keep doing these remasters... Why not choose a game that actually needs it for once. A game that's older than last gen, a game that wasn't already in HD.

Sony needs to be focusing on NEW games. So far there has been 0 reasons to get a PS4 (and before you say I am a fanboy: I think the same of the Xbox One).

People bash Nintendo for using the same characters over and over again... but at least they waited 10 years to do Wind Waker HD. Come on Sony!

Can people please STOP using the Wind Waker argument? Nintendo IS just as bad.

Nintendo has done the EXACT same thing in their past. Or have you never heard of Super Mario All Stars, released in 1993 on the Super Nintendo, only 3 1/2 years after the final Super Mario game. The only differences were updated graphics, sound, and additional save locations. Jeez, this sounds a LOT like what the Uncharted thing would be.

If we saw a collection with the 3 uncharted games by next year, it would be 3 1/2 - 4 years old. Literally no different than the Super Mario situation, not to mention the first Uncharted game would be 8 years old by then.

Before you just go and say Nintendo doesn't do something that the other companies are doing, you should do a little research.

Money can't buy happiness. Just video games, which make me happy.

You don't really think that I'm stupid enough to start this discussion with you again, do you?
