Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Is Nintendo ending the 3DS slowly?

This E3 was a big win for Nintendo. A splew of awesome games were announced,  they covered all their games extensively at the treehouse, and they ended it with a huge awesome smsash tourney. They did everything right, and made me a big believer in the future of the Wii U.

What they didn't do though, was build any hype for the 3DS. There were almost no notable 3DS announcements. Beyond Pokemon and Smash, we know nothing about the system other than project steam (a game that I am very skeptical of). Is this a sign that the 3DS is riding into the sunset?

As a 3DS owner, the upcoming release schedcule is particularily disheartening. Where is Metroid? Where is Advanced Wars? Where is MM3D? 3DS still has a lot of Nintendo franchises yet to appear on it.  I expected a redesign soon, followed by a slew of games like this.  It appears that the 3DS is slowly lying down, ready to die.

What do you think?

2014 is not really a year for 3ds

pokemon and smash....

moster hunter 4

what else?

They just did what the fans asked and focused on the Wii U.

I'm certainly happy with that outlook. I much prefer the Wii U to the 3DS, but I'm worried that they may not have much of a future planned for the 3DS.

Its gotten Tomodachi Life, a Kirby game, a Yoshi game, and a couple Mario spin-offs among others things earlier this year. Its a slow year, all systems get them. I very much doubt they are "phasing out" the 3DS XD someones been reading too many Vita horror stories lately :p

It is alright for me, and I don't own a Wii U. Need time to address my 3DS backlog.

Nope.

Current Consoles: Gaming PC, Wii U, 3DS

Handhelds are too important to Nintendo for them to just drop the ball completely on 3DS. Its a slower than average year so far, but I doubt we're gonna see the end of the 3DS so soon.

3DS won't be going anywhere anytime soon.

There's nothing to worry about. They dedicated most of their effords in 2012 and 2013 to the 3DS. Let Nintendo give a solid year or two to the WiiU. Nintendo will deliver, especially after the boost of 3DS Smash+Pokeon Hoenn Remakes.

You know it deserves the GOTY.
