Forums - Gaming Discussion - If the PS4 wins this gen, consoles will become obsolete

2 reasons because 1. Next month my sub is up for renewal so im going to grab a new phone
2. Sony is close, gen is almost done and i expect the specs to be known after e3

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Im not out on this right now.... the s10+ beats a base xo and ps4 but the x1x and ps4 pro muddened the water regarding my estimation.
Because if the next gen is only a bit stronger then the x1x or pro the phones are the way to go, expecially with stadia aswell in mind.

So you sincerely think or are convinced that the Snapdragon 855 is more powerful than th base PS4....... no words.

Anyways.... you were wrong. Consoles didn't become obsolete.... and you are wrong again about next ge and stadia.... maybe you just like being wrong?

Also, wouldn't be so sure about an S10+ beating the XBO in gaming.

The CPU should do better due to being more modern and the higher clock speed, the GPU is powerful and it looks mighty fine on RAM... but not necessary on it's bandwidth. The Snapdragon 855 and the Exynos 9820 (the S10+ has 2 different chips depending on where you live) both have just over 34GB/s of bandwidth, just half of what the OG XBO had (and 1/8 of the One S, and that was already considered to limiting and choking down it's performance.

In fact, it is a more general problem in the smartphone industry, theoretical performances are keeping going up but the bandwidth isn't following suit, choking the actual performance increases down a lot.

Kojima once advocated a modular console. I believe that was 2011. With today's demand for specs similar to pcs, it isn't that hard to believe.

The real problem is that you people were so cheap in the previous gen:

Console gamers about PS3: Its Overpriced
PC gamers about PS4: Its Underpowered

yes specs are important, but think how much PS4 would costed if wasnt underpowered: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/ps4-cost-381-to-build-report/1100-6416251/
I wouldnt mind spending $700 on PS4 at day one but it would get critized for being too expensive

At least somebody tell me what Sony should have done the PS4 back in 2013, you cant make them more powerful without increasing the price

If you didnt spend $599 on PS3, then you shouldnt care about the PS4 specs

This is exactly the reason why a PS5 won't be so much stronger than an Xbox One X. It's technically possible, but not for a price of 499 or even less.

True, that's why I said xbox one x will last a very long time before it becomes obsolete. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if people buy a discless xbox one x (if Microsoft made one) over next generation consoles (PS5 and xbox 2).

This thread seems like a cacophany of mad men. So congrats to Kirby on triggering so much cognitive dissonance, I guess!
