Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Microsoft giving Xbox 360 Owners $75 With the Purchase of an Xbox One

Hold on, so they just dropped the price to $399. And now they are basically giving you $75 on top of that meaning that the XB1 is now $325 for at least one month?????? Wow.

This makes me really happy, the price war has begun!!!!!!I have been saying that we can expect these consoles to hit $299 around oct-dec 2015, seems its going to happen a lot sooner than that.

Give it another year and they'll be paying you $399 to take one off them.

That said this is a damn good deal.   I might need to check it out.

Looks like Microsoft decided that a number of Xbox 360 owners require some nudging in order to upgrade to the Xbox One

First thing that popped into my head lol.

Shame that's not true though.

Considering the amount of 360 people upgrading to ps4 maybe they realized the XB1 was just less enticing, hence these "nudges".

MSFT seem to be trying everything they can to boost sales and it doesn't appear that they are working. Price cuts, unbundling kinect didn't work so I very much doubt this will swing the tide or actually even have any noticeable effect on game sales. It'll just mean that people buying a console will be getting their chosen title as digital courtesy of MSFT rather than a physical copy from your local store. I can't actually see the retailers being too happy with this as they won't be seeing their share of physical game sales.

The way things are going though, pretty soon it will be buy a $75 voucher and get free console.

Cool, so along with the game you already get you get another 75 to buy another game. I guess maybe I should've waited on buying an Xbone with all the good offers and everything they keep having.

this is a really good deal. basically makes the console 325$. and to think just a few months ago it was 499$.

Man, if MS has achieved anything with the XB1 launch so far its to drive home to consumers the message of never buying their next console within the first year. I know consoles always get cheaper and early adopters miss out, but damn, to go from $499 with no pack in games and kinect that will quickly become useless now that its optional to effectively $325 (35% price reduction) in the space of 7 months is unprecedented. It must being doing a number on their financial planning for the E&D division.

I'd thought RROD would have taught them that! but seriously this is crazy. I usually frown against buying any system at launch or even the first year but somebody has to take the risk.

So they had the Kinectless model and entry price reduction for June, now a voucher targeting 360 owners for July. They're trying hard to maintain some momentum over the summer. They need the hardcore, and are aware many are switching sides.

I guess next month's NPD report will tell us how many X360 owners took the $75 voucher offer, and how many ex-X360 owners took the The Last of Us Remastered offer.

This is only a limited offer, and only to select clients.

This has less to do with a temporary sales boost, and more do with locking in their best customers from deciding to buy a PS4 this fall.

I am sure MS has tracked their best customers (money spend/hours played on Live) and watched if they upgraded to XBox One, or stopped playing on Live (went to Sony for new generation). They want to keep the gamers who buy 10+ games a year over the people who just buy the yearly CoD game.

Because of this promotion, I am guessing they saw a large shift of these gamers to PS4, and wanted to keep them locked into XBox before Destiny came out.

This just means that june was not what they where expecting. MS cant have the x1 loose a month of the pricecut so they are doing a desperate move to try to take july. They know that if they dont win at least one month its going to look very bad coming into the hollidays.
I see this pissing off early adopters. This just makes me think, what are they going to do for the hollidays? the way they are droping prices and bundleling stuff, might think that its better to wait for the big one this holliday.

It takes genuine talent to see greatness in yourself despite your absence of genuine talent.

People are reporting to have gotten it even though they've only owned a 360 for a few months. Even people in Canada are getting the offer. So I'm not sure what the criteria is for receiving the offer, but it seems like most 360 owners have gotten it.
