Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Is Zelda better with Miyamoto or Aonuma?

I never understood the Aonuma hate. Aonuma has directed a variety of different Zelda games, since the N64 era.

When it comes to story, just think Majora's Mask's 3 day idea, and script as a whole. That was Miyamoto, not Aonuma.

Which Zeldas did Miyamoto make and which did Aonuma make?

Miyamoto made everything up to OoT, Aonuma pitched Majora's Mask, but Miyamoto did the story. They worked together on Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, and Skyward Sword. Aonuma did Phantom Hourglass, Spirit Tracks, and Link Between Worlds.

I prefer the old Miyamoto, not the current one. He would finish to destroy the franchise. I mean, come on, he created Wii Music and ruined Pikmin 3.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Honest to god neither of them would handle Zelda well in today's age. Aonuma doesn't understand that consumers don't want his creativity and Miyamoto seems out of shape in the game industry so if I had to pick someone to take charge of Zelda it would be Iwata.

I might be mistaken, but as far as I know:

Miyamoto: The Legend of Zelda, The Adventure of Link, Link's Awakening, A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time
Aonuma: Majora's Mask, The Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Phantom Hourglass, Spirit Tracks, Skyward Sword, A Link Between Worlds, Zelda Wii U

Well going off that I like Aonuma's Zelda games more, but I've only played one of Miyamoto's Zelda games.

I guess Miyamoto if Clyde32 is right and Miyamoto helped on the other major ones but if Aonuma's vision really is as big as it seems to be and he executes it to the best of his abilities, I think he might win with Zelda U but that is yet to be determined

This. Sadly, despite their many impressive past works, both are out of touch with modern gamers.

If it was up to me, I'd hand it over to Retro Studios.
