I agree with everything except the PC fans part. I mean, the exclusive part of owning a PC is the ability to have options and majority of the third party games are coming to PC with higher graphics and framerate but on top of that, there are mods available to enhance the graphics and extend gameplay that even includes custom campaigns and new worlds.

Even with games like watch_dogs that were gimped ports from the start, the PC community can make it so that it looks very close to the e3 2012 trailer which is not possible on consoles. So, even though we dont have really many PC exclusives, we are still getting majority of the third party thats out there with better graphics and frame rate. Heck, GTA V will look more amazing than the Next Gen/PC port after the modding teams have their way with it (considering how awesome the GTA IV mods look)

With that being said, this whole elitist mindset is pretty terrible (specially if they don't own a good gaming PC) and knowing many pc gamers, it is mostly true which is the downside of the PC community. They look down on people and try to convince you why PC is the only solution to gaming and while it has its many advantages, the initial cost of a PC will put most people down and the console exclusives will never come to PC (most of the time)

Oh and you forgot
Mobile fans: Terrible casuals fans that love playing games like flappy bird cause they love being hipsters which are terrible

No matter what fanbase we align outselves with, I think we can all agree on our general disdain towards the filthy casuals.

Can't say I agree.

Pretty good post.

I personally don't see much difference between the fanboys (i.e., the most extreme fans) within each fanbase. Whether it's the over-excited, over-hyping fan, the quick-to-anger, defensive fan, the snarky, passive-aggressive fan, the conspiracy theory fan, the elitist, or so on, each fanbase has more than its share of variety in fanatics.

Unfortunately due to bias, we all tend to see what we want to see in others, and ignore what we don't want to see in our own preferred groups.

Your every word was poetry.

Thank you!

Let's face it: all fanatics are idiots, feeding on their emotions and how they feel, rather than any sort of logic or intelligent thought.

Try as they will to put together an argument that at least gives them the appearance of using intelligent analysis and impartiality, they're almost universally transparent in their irrational biases.

And that's actually fine.

Personal preference is largely a subjective thing ultimately; it often has little to do with making informed, intelligent decisions based upon a complete and impartial analysis of all available data. This is entertainment we are talking about, so no justification need be given and that's where the real problem with some fanatics lie. They try to rationalize to other people why their preferences are legitimate, but typically by using skewed, biased or even outright false information and facts.

It would actually be a breath of fresh air to see more fans own up to this and just say something along the lines of "I know I'm being biased, but I just like what I like because it suits me" without trying to convince others why their preference is Universally The Best For All, which we all know, even the people making such claims, is a bunch of BS.

In my experience the single (not only, just thing hey are worst for) most annoying thing about each groups "worst" fanboys are:

PC: Elitism. Jesus fuck it's terrible. I have been primarily a PC gamer for several years now but i still have an overwhelming urge to punch them in the face.

Nintendo: Completely blind to the quality of Nintendo's own games. They will praise games as the technical, graphical, gameplay, artistic and content pinnacles of gaming regardless to the quality of the actual title.

Sony: Completely blind to the fuck ups of Sony themselves. These people wouldn't notice if Sony turned up and their front door and stole their kidneys. They'd probably congratulate them for the good business choice.

Microsoft: PC + Sony. Blind to MS's own fuck ups and built in with one hell of a superiority complex. Mention PS4 > X1 hardware? Prepare to be murdered. Mention XBL > PSN? You're their best friend. I personally believe MS fans are, on average, slightly better than the other 3, but their worst are THE worst.

These are just how things have been for me over the years, i'm sure others have had different experiences. Fortunately VGC doesn't have many examples of the above three, since they tend to get banned pretty quickly (then make 30 alts).

i agree completely with what you have said. I am pro-sony, and regardless of my post history probably making that obvious on a certain popular forum, I almost got lynched by my feelow sony fans when i suggested that MS is far better than sony when it comes to firmware releases for their system and how sony was foolish to make the PSV and they shjould just quietly let it die.

Nintendo fans bother me because they are blind (or just don't care) to the fact their company hasn't developed a new IP with an 80+ metascore in the past 11 years. The last two games that fit in this category were Pikmin and Animal Crossing which were 2001-2002. Seriously why don't Nintendo fans demand new games? We all know Mario and Zelda kick ass but wouldn't you like a better catalogue of games to compliment the those series? It really baffles me how they say nothing, and don't jump ship...or just keep a Wii/Wii U as a back up system for when a new Mario comes out.

Beautiful post. The part I bolded is why i avoid/never get into any kinda argument of individual games. I tend to keep my arguments restricted to nothing but sales analysis and trends and only in relation to hardware. I find it shocking when people talk up or down games with complete disregard of how subjective they are.
