In this interview with Phil Harrison, it states Sony reported 9 mil units sold.. Couldn't find any additional news on this.. Would it surprise you if this was true?  Is VG massively under tracking the ps4 WW?  Also, Harrison says x1 numbers are north of 5 mil, but he isn't confirming sales through or shipped figures..

Anyways, thoughts?  Additional info?

VGchartz is NOT accurate. WiiU is under tracked and maybe ps4 could be as well. BUT no way ps4 has reached that number.

As of June 1st (Japan), US + Japan sales = <4 million units. From reports, Europe and Rest of the world still don't have supply to meet demand. If shipped, then it makes no sense why there would be supply issues. It can't be sold because of these shortages. It is possible Harrison misspoke, as the only public info I could find about "9 million units" was from that same article.

Assuming a 10 year life span. PS4 should hopefully sell minimum of 120 million consoles and possibly over 150 million+ console sales with game releases, bundles, price cuts and PS4 slim over the generation.

Well the PS4 is still selling like hot pancakes, even with releases of other games like Titanfall , Mario kart 8, still PS4 has been unstoppable so 9 million I can easily guarantee it.

Manufactured maybe. Not sold. What joke of an analyst thinks we're less than 5% into this gen?..

I think it's sold to retailer and not to consumers, but if it is indeed consumers, then good on ya Sony :)

Well.. To be fair.. Nobody (MS & Sony) have yet to release any new numbers since Sony announced the 7 mil thing back in April.. So numbers could be right.. We really have nothing to rely on except VG and it's estimates.

Yea considering, like you said, last we heard officially was 7 million for PS4 in April, I could easily see 9 million 3 months later. That's a slow down from the 1 million a month it was selling but understandable.
