Parity with PS3 would be about... 880x720p. These consoles have limitations. Even ND apparently struggled to make a PS3 game 60 fps on the PS4. They also claim Bluray is too limited in space. |
TLOU is more than a direct port fyi. First off, TLOU struggled with even 30 FPS (noticable dips all the time), was rendered in 720p (less than half 1080p), and had no AA (the AA part is based on my eyes, so there could be a small amount I guess) on the PS3. The ps4 is being rendered in 1080p. It is also getting a constant frame rate of 60fps based on what ND is saying, which means that they didn't really struggle to do it. Also, if the framerate is constant, then it can be assumed that the ps4 would be capable of running a higher frame rate, but they locked the frame rate. Not to mention, they will have AA this time around. Those few things alone will make the game far harder to render. Not to mention increased detail on everything. So, I feel that we can say two things, this is more than just a direct port that had a ton of work put into it, and I have yet to see the info that ND had trouble doing 60fps on the ps4.
