Forums - Gaming Discussion - Anyone else feel games without achievements/trophies are a waste of time?

They're a neat little addition, but they add very little to the experience. I prefer not to have them because looking at the list can spoil the story. If the best thing about your games are the trophies, you're probably not playing very entertaining games.

PS4: 60-65m
WiiU: 30-35m
X1: 30-35m

No not at all.
I never cared for trophies, they feel like a waste of time.
Why do i need trophies to play a game?

If you're interested in Nintendo content and understand german, maybe you want to take a look at my youtube channel! :)

Sometimes, I've played several games only because I wanted Achievements. Some of them turned out to be quite good though. So I can definitely thank achievements for broadining my horizons when it comes to video games.

play a game just for getting the trophies isnt also a waste of time?

No. I like achievements, but can live without them...

No, that is just moronic

What is a trophy?
A miserable little pile of score points!
(throw my computer to the ground)
But enough talk! HAVE AT YOU!
(epic battle ensues)

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Yea for sure. Get 100 headshots! But why? JUST DO IT FOR THIS VIRTUAL ACHIEVEMENT! I'll admit I have moments where I get sucked into getting trophies, but it never lasts long. It can make games less fun sometimes.

Only games Ive gotten all achievements for are Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas. They did add some replay value:)

God yes, someone else brought it up^^

Yes, I've felt that way since last gen. Every game without trophies felt empty. I regularly struggle which games I should get for PC and which for PS4. I still wonder how I managed the jump to Wii U as trophies were one of my biggest concerns.

It's not like I have a lot(or any) friends to show them but since their inception I always thought they were one of the best additions of last gen. They motivate to get even more out of a game which is pretty big for me since I usually only do as much as I want in a game and then I'm finished with it forever. They're responsible for falling even more in love with Mirror's Edge, where they pushed me to get my first and only plat.

Trophies are great. Every game without or too few is a waste of potential.
