Forums - Sony Discussion - "I don't get the point of TLOU Remastered"

It's too soon is the problem. Nintendo waited 2-3 generations before remastering their stuff, but Sony is doing their stuff just a year after the original release. That's shameless to me.

I also don't think it's going to be a good idea when the new version isn't that much better looking than the old version. Why would you buy it if there's barely a difference between the two versions of the game.

I also don't see what all of you are expecting from it.  Wouldn't you rather have Naughty Dog working on something new, maybe a second installment of the game rather than remastering a game you've all already played?

"I don't care if you think my opinion is irrelevant either, dumb consumers don't care about an intelligent or considered opinion either. "

You call yourself intelligent i call it arrogance. Get off your high horse and stop insulting people who have different views than yourself.  Telling people what to do with there money is not intelligent. Sterotyping people is not intelligent. Refusing to acknowledge a market exist because you do not like it is not intelligent. Are you intelligent? im inclined to think otherwise.

I think buying map packs for call of duty is stupid, I think paying for avatars on PSN is stupid, etc. etc. That's arrogant? Sorry if you think that, I call it not buying into obvious money grubbing tactics of corporations.

When did i say that? I'm say you pushing your views like they are the only ones that matter are aggogant..

Why wouldn't I think my views are better than others?

So how do people still refuse to understand the point of TLOU RE?

Because it's yet another port.  Not a cross gen title.  A port.  We buy new consoles to play new games, not replay every single game in our library.  Or indies that we could buy on PC for $1.  Lots and lots of crappy indies.

Here's a suggestion. Don't buy it.

I don't get the point of rebuying a year old game just for minor differences, but to each their own o.o

I was waiting for a price drop on the PS3 version when they announced the PS4 version.  I'd rather not have it on the PS4, but since it's on there I might as well purchase it over the PS3 version.  Doesn't mean I'm not going to still complain about it being yet another port.

Modern mindset: "If I don't like it, it's stupid and it shouldn't exist! If someone does like it, then they are stupid as well."
It's sickening, and yet repeats itself constantly.

Why is it sickening to criticize a corporation? The modern mindset of buying stupid shit is really what's sickening.

Not gonna get TLOUR, but you're on a video game website. Videogames themselves are stupid shit compared to all the things you could be doing with your money.

Anyway, you bought the Oblivion game of the year edition. Didn't that realease a year after the base game? Plus both the PC and PS3 base editions. So you're doing the same stupid thing you're accusing people of doing, only worse.

But TLOU is no "stupid shit".

  • Buyers of the PS3-version who are happy with that version can just keep it... nothing changes for them!
  • Buyers of the retail PS3-version who want the best version of that game have the option to sell the PS3-version and get the PS4-version.
  • PS4 owners who never played that game now have the option to buy and play that great game
  • people interested in buying a PS4 who never played that game now have another reason to buy that console
  • PS3 owners who never played that game have better chances to get the PS3-version for a bargain

The only group who is fucked are the buyers of the digital PS3-version... Sony really should give them a discount, especially when they also bought the DLC.

Other than that I see no downsides for the gamers or for Sony to offer the Remastered version. You could argue that Naughty Dog could have invested the remastering time better in another DLC for the PS3-version, but that's totally subjective.

I still think a remake of 1 year old game is overkill.

I dont care what some of you would say .

I would agree if it wasnt because there has just been a console generation launch

Considering 31% of PS4 owners have come from Wii/X360 this is a great opportunity for those gamers to play this game.

Wow I wish I could know who bought what system last gen and that they bought PS4 this gen.  How do you do it?!

probably, gotten this response already, but I dont really care enough to read through the rest of this thread.

I would rather see Naughty Dog working on new games rather than remaking a game that came out last year. Ok yes the visuals will be improved on this version but the visuals on the PS3 version were fantastic considering the weak hardware. I'm sure everyone could have just been happy with that.
