Id become a PC only gamer. I hate small screens, which is why I hate the Wii U gamepad.

Ever since the N64, the sales of Nintendo handhelds have been significantly higher then the consoles (with the exception of the Wii and DS)

Seriously, look

SNES: 50m

N64: 32m, GB+GBC: 118m

GC: 22m, GBA: 88m

WiiU: 6m, 3DS: 44m

It would be intresting if they made handheld exclusives but have Mario and other Nintendo games on consoles

I really would not care if they did

Also no to that too. That just means that their IPs get whored out. Besides , Nintendo even said, they will never again release their IPs on non-Nintendo systems.

I think that Nintendo will be the ONLY console system in the future, where Sony and MS go to cloud based gaming services.

Hell no.

Nintendo console games are just too great.

In this topic, hardware sales are the sole factor that impacts profitability. Although, in all fairness, that's a lot of topics.

You guys can vote in all of the polls you want, but it is very clear that this is the direction they are headed in. I for one am excited to see them only focus on one big console. Imagine how many games it would have!

I think the Wii U will end up surprising everyone long term.

I'm a huge Playstation fan who owned a PS3, PSP, and 360 last gen...and thoroughly disliked the Wii and DS models I tried. This gen I bought a PS4 and Vita; and while I really like them...I find I'm not playing as much. I picked up a Wii U when it went on sale for $250 to satisfy my need to get away from the MANY shooters I've been playing and back to my platforming roots. Wow I LOVE my Wii U.

It's getting much more play in my house (with the while family) than any of the other systems. It's got a really smooth UI that is very stable compared to what I'm used to on my other systems. The controllers are superb; and the graphics sublime. So far I'm playing two Mario titles, Donkey Kong, and MK8. It's pure bliss.

While the wii sold like crazy; I think it was much more a "hula hoop" phenomena. People bought them and they collected dust when their new flat screens were delivered and everything just looked SOOOOO terrible. The Wii U on the other hand has the potential to deliver gameplay and graphics that are plenty good for almost everyone, while also delivering unique features at prices that undercut the competition. I see no reason why the WII U can't have 7 or 8 years of life in it.

I think a lot of gamers will pick one up as a second system and quickly start to make it their main system. People are starting to get sick of all the games that release as "alpha" level at best and have to be patched for 6 months before they work. Nintendo titles are just SO slick, beautiful, and well made.

For handheld I love my iPhone and can't see ever needing anything else.

Don't you take away my Wii U; I'm officially a new Nintendo fanboy.

Hybrid console/handheld. Buy the console version or handheld version, play on your tv or play on the handheld.  If the console is in the form of a DS include a Wii U tablet which is required to play some games.  Tablet is bottom touch screen, tv is top screen.  Use cards like the DS or 3DS that work on both consoles, so if you have both systems you can quit playing at home, put the game in your 4DS and then keep playing at a friends or something.  Also cross buy for all eshop games since both systems have the same architecture.

I'm happy for you but

1. Just how many games are released at "alpha" level?

2. All the other systems you mentioned have more than just shooters available, did you try those instead?

3. For someone who doesn't like platformers, what does the WiiU have to offer?

I do agree that it will end up a secondary system for many, but I don't think it will be peoples main system. Remember that both the X1 and PS4 haven't even began to drop their heavy hitters yet. The Wii U would have used up Pikmin, Mario Kart, 3D World, Smash, a Zelda spinoff and Donkey Kong by the time this year ends. 2014 will be a good year for the WiiU, but its only one year. 2015 and beyond won't be a walk in the park, when you consider what's been delayed to 2015 and what's supposed to come out in 2015 on the new HD Twins.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

i agree with most of what u said but 2015 could be a pretty solid year for Wii U as well.

Xenoblade Chronicles X+Yoshi's Woolly World+Kirby Rainbow Curse+Mario Maker+Splatoon+Fatal Frame V+Devil's Third+Mario Party 10+Star Fox+Legend of Zelda is a pretty strong exclusive lineup.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

Sometimes, we need to understand the concept of revenue. Unless they can magically obtain revenue lost from home consoles with handheld revenue, it'll NEVER happen, not even a DS like phenomenon alone could make up for lost console revenue on consoles, a dock won't make up for it either, as it will likely fail. The reasons for why Nintendo's home console business has been declining has much to do with their ways of managing those decisions they make in launching a home console. If they start making better decisions, they'll be fine, otherwise they won't improve. They aren't on a decline simply because they're Nintendo.

This idea of developing only for handhelds exclusively and on competitors home consoles has become beyond ridiculous. Nintendo would NEVER want to have to pay royalties to the competitors, plus they'll likely suffer at the hands of other consoles' hardware. Nintendo designs their own hardware, and they only need to stick to that. Imagine this, they're having a hard time with their own hardware now, could you imagine how harder of a time they'll have trying to understand 2 consoles from competitors for development? They'll be in a living hell!
