Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Does Tomodachi life bombing in the West hurt other Japanese games chances of being localized?

The game looks like it has low development costs. I wouldn't doubt if the game didn't make a alone in t he west with 100k+ and all the Japanese sales were pure profit.

This game will have massive legs and pull out great numbers in the end. Early call.

This.

Cmom, people, we all know that how unrealiable most of the data on vgchartz is. It's only good for games released far way ago, when data is reajusted based on official data. Besides, if you are wacthing UK charts, you could be pretty impressed, since it's the second week ina roll that this title climb positions(altough the lack of releases is problably helping).

1st week: 15th

2nd week: 12th

3rd week: 17th

4th week: 15th

Look at the japaneses charts: even there tomodachi showed incridible long legs, outpacing even animal crossing.

Please, only refer from vgchartz data after 3 months of a game release.

About localisation, its the easiet way for nitnendo to make money. They only spend a litle on localisation and them sell a game that was alreadly done. Put a game on on their sites and bam, ready. They do that even with games that are not made by them, like fantasy life.

"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."

The game is still selling. It's hasn't failed at all. And if you seriously think the supposed poor sales are due to people being 'done' with Miis, you don't have the first clue about the market. It's a niche, new (in the West) IP.

Tomodachi life is lame compared to the games people actually want from Japan so I don't see how that will influenc chances.

It's a relatively limited release, as they're scoping out western interest.

It's a rather peculiar game, and for what it is and does, it's actually garnering a lot of press. So I don't think it can be called a flop.

My daughter has forsaken hard copies and gone 100% digital this year. Maybe it's doing better than we think. It was a day one buy for her.

It's currently shot up to #2 on the Amazon UK bestsellers, not sure what's driven it. Hopefully we'll see a rise in the charts next week...

It's still selling isn't it?

Nintendo games have long legs. It's selling like this when I thought it would have been completely overshadowed by Mario Kart 8. Everything about this post confuses me a bit.
