Forums - Movies & TV - X-Men : Days of Future past is the best X-Men movie out of all of them - spoiler alert

I liked two mainly because of Nightcrawler. Future was better than all of them. Last Stand embarrassed the franchise. Wolverine being the main guy is ruining it for me also. It's overkill. Where's Gambit? Cyclops? Nightcrawler?

Xavier's powers are telepathy not telekinesis. Its jean gray that has both.

I personally did not like the movie very much. There were way too many convenient plot points. Why did they even really need to break Magneto out of jail? The whole thing about Xavier and beast having magical mutant cures was obviously for emotional beats and not because it makes any sense.

Quicksilver scene was decent but over hyped. Nowhere near as cool as nightcrawlers. I'm sick and tired of wolverine being the center of every damn X-men movie. And I also hate the mute characters that every X-men movie has to have where they show a bunch of mutants but give them next to no lines. I wish Josh Whedon would've directed the xmen films they would have been so much better. Whedon is actually a bigger x-men fan than an avengers fan. I would've loved to see what he could do.

Yes, it was pretty good. Althought First Class is also a decent movie as well.

Fanboys have short attention spans and memory. It was good, but not that great, certainly not as great as X2.

The movie was very underwhelming in how it handled both the time travel and the characters.

My biggest issue was how Quicksilver was painfully underused. In fact, the second he left the picture, the pacing (ironic) just went downhill.

Character motives also bring the writing into question. The entire 3rd act just felt rushed. Even the action was sub par.

Overall it just didn't feel like a true sequel to first class or the original trilogy, even if it did blend to two fairly well. It just seemed like the existence of the movie is purely there to serve as a set up for X Men Apocalypse and the inevitable reboot.

I once dated a girl like the one eating the pizza, did not work, she was too good looking for me. =/

too many plot holes.. the biggest glaring one is if Mystique was captured and killed in original timeline then how come she was alive in x1 and x2, and x3 and how come the cure was readily available for Charles and beast when it was made a big deal in x3, for me x3 was the worst movie in the series but it did follow the time line.. wolverine orgins and first class messed it up.. the only good thing in the movie for me was Quicksilver and the end scene.

When i saw it again I realised, they never said she died from the testing. In order to get more DNA samples, bone marrow etc she needs to remain alive. There's no reason why she couldn't have gone through all that and then escaped (with the help of Mags).

Interesting that they already had the same cure than the doctors had in the third movie back in the 60's.

Beasts version in a small dose didn't work, and they have to keep doing it to remain 'human', the Cure was meant to be perminant (even if Mags proves it isn't).

Hmm, pie.

I always thought First Class was a bit of a reboot but then Days of Future Past managed to somehow tie both together.

I really enjoyed it, looking back at the first 3 movies, they're kind of crap in comparison: what First Class, DoFP and the two Wolverine movies did was present a comic book universe in a way which seemed weighty and much more powerful than the other Marvel films, which are all cutesy and fluffy in comparison (even when they're a bit darker like Capt. America 2).

I guess its partly because unlike pretty much all the other superhero movies X-Men is stacked with legitimately great actors - I mean Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender is a ridiculous line up when you think about it which no similar films can really compete with. I mean even when Hugh Jackman is on his own in the Wolverine movies they still have a plot which has some substance to it and characters you can take seriously and empathise with whilst still being entertained.

Slightly miffed McKellen didn't get much screen time (I missed his voice :/), but yeah, really great. Touch and go whether it beat First Class - FC hangs together better pacing wise over its entire length but the teen superhero school/training bits got on my nerves a little, and DoFP brings a bit more drama to the table somehow, I guess because its the climax of the 6 films before it.

She didn't die after being captured.  She was experimented on and then eventually released.  Pretty sure they explained that in the film.

currently the best selling movie of 2014!! (well, it will probably hold the spot for the next 2-3 weeks, until Transformers takes over)
