Forums - Nintendo Discussion - A Link between worlds starts annoying

So I started to play aLbw. And you first have to walk to one place. then they send you somewhere else. and then again somewhere. and there is tons of text. and link is a little sloth. and there is too much talk. and it sounds all a bit baby-esque.

Really annoying.

Nothing like the start of aLttp. That had it all. Urgency. Drama. Rain. Lightning. Instant fighting. Loneliness. Death. Despair.

And now: oh Link, i have to wake you up again. you are late for work. yada, yada, yada.

I honestly dont know if I want to continue playing.

You do know that the beginning is well  just at the beginning of the game right?

There wont be a bad beginning 15 hours in etc.

Does it matter how far in I am? The beginning just sucked big time. Too much talking, not enough gaming.

Lol, I remember I was at the first dungeon in a matter of 15 minutes, JUST LIKE Alttp. Aftet you get to the first dungeon, you only have one cutscene every two dungeons.

Not true. aLttp had fighting starting 1 minute after you started the game. there were like 4 sentences said until you had to go through a palace full of enemies to save  the princess. the only person you had interacted with up to this point was dead. you were alone. it was dark. it rained. you just wanted to sit down and cry. but it was too damn wet for that.

oh, and those 4 sentences were more story than the whole gibberish that I just skipped over.

Yup, I said the same thing. The start of the game is weak. Which is funny, because a lot of gamers and reviewers praised the game for its quick start. That's telling for how far Zelda has fallen with its overboarding intro sections.

Once you've visited Zelda, leave the castle and the iconic overworld music kicks in, the game starts for real and aligns with how things were in ALttP.

I visited her. what does she tell me. GO FIND SOMEONE ELSE TO TALK TO!

Stupid chick.

And what does that one tell me? GO FIND SOMEONE ELSE TO TALK TO!

Bastard.

I have now crossed 50% of hyrule in finding people to talk to. The map feels now much smaller than in aLttp, where I spent ages fighting my way out of one castle, going through underground caverns etc.

And there was no one to talk to. now there is like hundreds of talky bastards around.

Good call, just scoop it up and trade the game in now. No point slogging through all 5 minutes of a bad intro to get to the rest of the game -- which, from the sound of things, you've pretty much finished already.

Seriously, just stop playing right now and take the game back to wherever you bought it. You said you honestly don't know if you're going to keep playing, let me help you with that decision. Don't keep playing.

So you consider the Hyrule Castle intro the "first dungeon"? If not, how is what I said "not true"? If so, then I disagree. When I think of Alttp I dont't think of its beginning, yes it is a nice setting, but it certainly wasnt the memorable gameplay that I loved from the game. Also ALBW is not ALTTP, despite the similarities. The game has a thematic difference, and different story, and therefore starting with a dark and lonely theme makes very little sense, considering the plot.
