In the case of TP (and Final Fantasy VII), the hype was solidly sustained from the reveal to the reviews and even after. The graphics style of the game had a lot to do with that hype (as usual, people buy the coating of something before anything else). And it this case, the hype did correlate to better sales, ultimately. The game had it all, gameplay-wise, but it also had the look everyone wanted, and it's that look that helped systain the hype left and right (be it for the media, or anyone else).

I wouldn't exactly say hype is all that's needed seeing as how tons of people keep buying COD despite the amount of flak it recieves but OoT and FF VII were also good games too and I think that's what helped them ultimately in the end.

FF VII got incredibly ridiculous hype back then. A lot of people were buying a FF game for the first time based on the hype that the media and fans of the series shared before and after the release. It helped tremendously that the game was gorgeous [for its time] and unlike anything that had come before it, what with all the fancy CGI sequences that were a first on that scale on console at the time.

I do remeber the hype for FF VII but it was also a good game too ...

It's all in the numbers ... Why else would OoT and TP sell so well ?

OoT was the first 3d zelda and Twilight Princess was on 2 console, the second of which being one of the most hyped consoles of all time like I said.

Take away GCs TP sales and it still outsells others by several million.  Your arguments fail in the face of reality.

And he need to explain to us Skyward Sword sales.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

I remember watching E3 2002 and seeing Wind Waker for the first time. I was one of the ones disappointed. I remembered that tech demo with Link fighting Ganon and was stoked for a Zelda looking like that. Then comes this cel-shaded baby Link and that part where he winks at the camera? I was pissed. But you know what? Me being a Zelda fan I still bought WW and it turned out to be one of my favorites. And even today, WW has aged much better than any previous 3D Zelda because of its fantastic art style.

Again the tech demo for Wii U Zelda looked great and all but seeing the actual game, I think it looks even more fantastic. I am very happy with the direction it is going and know it will be amazing.

there is no toon style on zelda for wii u. and the style only it makes the textures different, the texture quality/resolution is still there.

For some reason, I have the impression that you have no idea what textures are...

I have the impression your reason for thinking that isn't good.

My reason is the very nature of your constant comments on VGC.

The fact that you don't see the huge difference in texture work in the two footages (tech demo and the new Zelda U), that you say it's actually better in the new teaser, speaks for itself.

So, no reason at all?

And the trailer speaks for itself.

Yeah... That obviously translates to no reason at at, for you.

I know that for you, "I prefer this over that" equals "what I prefer is much better in everything", but you have to be blind to see better texture work in the bottom picture. The new Zelda U Link barely has any texture work at all. Most of what you see there is acomplished using very good [read: exceptional] cell shading. What little textures it uses are very simplistic. And that's coming from a guy who much prefers the direction Nintendo is taking with this new art style, over the tech demo.

It will be a open world so dont expect much detail. Visual effects and draw distance are excellent.while character models are low poly. Obviously they made it Cel-shaded to save texture work and performance. Nintendo always aims at solid 30fps with Zelda.i dont see that changing.
If they can push the environmental effects and particle effects, a rock solid 30fps refresh rate with no pop-up whatsoever on a big seamless scenary with that IQ shown in the
trailer, ill be more than happy.

I think the game will grow on people personally.

I liked what I saw to be honest. The whole game looked alive. It was absolutely beautiful and of course it's Zelda. I think the Tech Demo was maybe a bit too dark imo. This is going easily please people once it actually comes out.
