Forums - Sales Discussion - USA Preorder 21 June 2014

I keep hoping to see Sunset Overdrive, yet it still is not arriving on vgchartz estimates. I guess a little internet buzz and early enthusiasm is not much to judge for actual preorders.

The game coming on 28 October...

So, before coming sure will compared in pre order.

The last of us PS4 coming 30 July, so, between 6 week.

These numbers are too broken when you consider that they're in-store only.

As noted, Halo MCC and Halo 5 should easily be on the list, as I KNOW they will have a ton more preorders than something like 'The Crew : Xbox One'. To think otherwise would just be silly.

As for the actual games themselves, the multiplats (yes, even COD:AW) will heavily favor PS4 this holiday season. Halo MCC will sell to a ton of XB1 owners, and bring a handful of holdouts over, but it looks like the XB dedicated fanbase that wanted in already jumped even before Titanfall (assuming the marginal bump for $399 SKU week holds, which to all indications it probably will).

Destiny may outsell COD this year (PS4/XBO only). I think including the 360/PS3 casuals COD will still eke it out, but the next-gen crowd seems more interested in Destiny than COD. Series fatigue/decline seems inevitable at this point.

While I would tend to assume (since there are no numbers or facts at this point ot back it up) that Halo MCC should or would be more in demand than The Crew. I wonder since the Halo MCC is also available for preorder in hard copy why it hasn't seemed to put up notable numbers?

I don't know. That's what makes this list so utterly broken imho. It's only valuable in the context of what IS listed, but the lack of several key titles makes it just plain silly. From a popularity standpoint it should be Halo >>>>>> Sunset >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> _ under a pile of dirt _ >>>>>>>>>>>>> The Crew.

The Crew is coming out at a time when Sony is bringing a next-gen DriveClub title out, and when Microsoft is droppin Forza Horizon 2. So it's doubtful in the extreme that somehow The Crew is outpacing all of these XB1 games in preorders.

The choice is :

(1) Believe these numbers AND in the absence of notable missing titles meaning that they're simply not being preordered.

or

(2) Believe that these numbers are broken because they are missing so many key titles.

Option 1 is pure insanity imho.

The reason The Crew is on here is because it was supposed to release last year, but it got delayed into 2014 just a few weeks before it was supposed to release, alongside Watch Dogs. Preorders built up quite a bit when the 2013 release was approaching, and then it got delayed, and even though many preorders likely got canceled because of the delay, VGC doesn't adjust their numbers for canceled preorders as far as I know.

I agree that both Halo Master Chief Collection and Sunset Overdrive should be on the list by now, so something is definitely off. Master Chief Collection was supposedly the single most preordered game coming out of E3, it should have easily got 30k+ preorders in 2 weeks. As for Sunset Overdrive, it had like 12k preorders the week before E3, and the week of E3 it was one of the most preordered games on both Amazon's and Gamestop's bestsellers charts, so it should have got the 18k preorders it needed to be on the list over the last 2 weeks. VGC's tracking is definitely off imo.

agree with those too but i think smash should also have a lot more preorders too with the smash fest torunement and huge presence
