The game is gonna then be 30$ with that 20$ off. Your whole point of this thread is to get the newer one at LOWER price. Now you're complaining about your 75$ used to the first purchase? You want all of it back or something??? Even then, I didn't say use gamestop. Sell it on ebay. Or somewhere else. You could get more.

that's alright.. i don't think you are understanding what I'm saying.  I still own the ps3 too you know.  I still fire it up because of the backlog of great games.  The ps3 isn't going anywhere for a while.  at the same time i also play games on the ps4.  it isn't about buying it at a lower price.  it's about having to rebuy a game you already own.  why are you going to buy a game you already have?  it would most make sense to have an upgrade plan for these type of gamers.  it's not like everyone likes to drop almost full retail for the same game and content they already have.. and it's not like Sony has a big catalog of games like these.

This is really a poor complaint. What does it matter if you sell the ps3 one for the ps4 one. You want the better version don't you? You can get it cheaper by selling the old one off. You get it cheaper anyway, by default, with it being $10 less at the start. You still win out on both sides. You're basically making it out like you where being cheated out of something. Basically, you're just saying you want a upgrade program to all remakes and ports from PS3 to PS4. This isn't going to happen all the time. But you have several options in getting it cheaper. Ultimatly, what does it matter then?

This is not like what happened to Marvel VS Capcom 3. People like me who bought the first release were CHEATED out of things promised.

no.. its not a poor complaint.  Those cross plat games that you buy on ps3 or ps4 that plays on ps3 or 4 with a one time purchase?  same thing.  would you buy those on ps3 and repurchase it on ps4?  all i said is, there should be a upgrade plan.  if there isn't it's okay.. i would feel cheated out because i already bought the game, but to play it on the ps4, i'll have to buy it again at almost full retail for the hd glory?  your money bro.. 6 mil sold on the ps3.  Is sony expecting that community will all repurchase the same game?

Then what is the problem? You say PS3 version still has huge value, if you don't think the PS4 version is worth 50$ to you, play the PS3 version, which again as you said has huge value, nobody is abandoning you, online servers are still up, you get DLC support.

Full PS3 compatibility would likely add 100$ to the price tag, bigger size, more power usage and external brick or something, plus Sony or any other publisher could no longer sell HD Remasters, so it waas always out of the question.

You're way too entitled imo, I'm really happy and often surprised how many Cross-Buy (PS4/PS3/Vita) games we get, if TLoU would be a simple port, then maybe a 10$ upgrade would be fair, but it's not.

i understand the bc part.. just saying if it was there, then this whole argument is moot.  but the fact of the matter is, i already have it on the ps3.  if i want to play it on the ps4, i have to buy the ps4 version? wouldnt an upgrade make more sense for these gamers that like to keep their game but be able to play it on the ps4 also?  like i said.. regardless of port cost, it's the same game.  cost of new purchases will already cover the port cost.  it's not like they are starting from scratch. they don't need to hustle exisitng owners.  this isn't a question of entitlement.. it's more a question of sony's strategy for their exisiting gamer base and how they will transition those gamers that's already done the retail purchasing to the ps4.  i don't see how a $10-$20 upgrade fee cheapens anything.

Well I have this game but didnt finish is due to fps dropp, if its 60 fps instant buy .

I was ready to get it then I saw the trailer and was not remotely impressed with the graphic upgrade. I might rent it, compare it myself and then get it if it is worth it.

also, because the ps4 has already done this upgrade fee thing before, i don't see how it's silly to assume that something could also be in place for TLOU. How do you guys think gamers would of felt buying those ps3 games late gen, and having to pay full price again for the ps4 HD versions. BF4, COD:G, AC.. A shitstorm with publicity would of hurt those games had they forced gamers to rebuy the next gen version of the same game they already purchased, but they did right with the $10 upgrade fee.. don't see why Sony couldnt do the same thing.

I don't know whether it would make sense, it would definitely be cool, I would oppose that, I'm a PS3 version owner, who would of course love if I could save this money.

Thing is, nobody does that. See any GotY edition, there are no upgrade plans, see any cross-generational title, if you buy PS3 versions of those games you are not getting the PS4 version, see HD Remasters, I didn't get Tomb Raider Definitive Edition for 10$.

The launch upgrade plan was a special occasion, where Sony wanted to give direct incentive for last gen owners to smoothly jump to the PS4, very limited thing. We realistically shouldn't expect Sony doing it for every, or even any bigger retail game.

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

There would be no shitstorm, those who would want to buy the PS4 would simply not buy the PS3 versions of the games. And again nobody is forcing anybody to buy the game again. If you want it, feel it's worth 50$ go ahead, don't feel like it? Wait for a price drop or skip altogether.

The problem is I can buy the PS3 disk version of TLoU for < $20 used now, and then upgrade to the PS4 version for $10.  Why would anyone buy the game new, when they can just get one of the 6M used copies and upgrade?

The $10 upgrade at launch was only on a limited quantity of games that launched on the old generation, and then came out on the new generation a month later.  There are a lot of last-gen ports coming that will have the same situation as TLoU.  Tomb Raider, GTAV, Metro, Shadow warrior, etc.  None of them will have $10 upgrades.

well.. too lazy to really look up the gap in between the hd/remaster releases, but this game specifically atm is only 1 year old.  13 months when it releases.  There's a reason why it's $50 and not $60.  If it was released sometime in 2015-2016, then I could even see this remaster version selling for $30-$40 bucks.  As for your last comment about Sony wanting to give an incentive for last gen owners, it's the same thing that would apply here.  And like I said, it's not an every game occurance.  Basically 3rd party launch titles and this specific game... which fell into the transition year.  that's why i said, even if it was a "remastered" version, it's an HD port of a year old game. which makes much more sense to do an upgrade fee for this title than to expecting existing owners to pony up almost full retail.

oh well.. still a month before release.. we'll see if Sony or ND can clarify this up..
