He didn't neccesarily say that fewer titles were coming to PS4. He was mentioning the budget for them was getting expensive, not that the PS4 would get fewer. He also said triple A games as a WHOLE, not specifically just Sony.

It's funny how PS3 had more worthwhile exclusives its first year but you don't see many PS4 HAZ NO GAMZES just because it sells well. Proof that people prefer style over substance

"We've been saying that the number of AAAs might be getting smaller "

Just fewer AAAs.

Though you could always hold some hope in the "might" there.

Even if it is "fewer" *referring just to PlayStation 4* then it's still good. Sony has enough 1st party exclusives under it's belt to suffice. However, I'm sure Sony hasn't released a bunch of 1st party titles in a single year anyway. It was always spread out.

Total PS2 Exclusives = 19 Exclusives
11 were trash
-> 8 exclusives

Total PS3 Exclusives = 14 Exclusives
6 were trash
-> 8 Exclusives

Total PS4 Exclusives = 6 Exclusives (Bloodborne is 2015, which will be the boom year for PS4)
Only Knack and MLB is a little doubtful if you should play
-> 5 Exclusives

I think what happened is that:
1 - On PS2 years Multiplatform wasn't so common as right now (fighting games became Multiplatform, GTA became multiplatform, RPGs became multiplatform, shooting games became multiplatform!)
2 - Games are needing more time and ca$h to be done
3 - PS4 release too little too early and most games will come out on 2015 Ratchet & Clank, Bloodborne, Uncharted 4, Rime, Shadow of the Beas, The Last Guardian (maybe?), ...
4 - Many smaller games are being sold Digitally Only (iNFAMOUS First Light, Resogun, ...) and that doesnt mean they're worse than the boxed games, also many boxed games on past would be lower budget
5 - We have Gamescom in less then 2 months and TGS in 3 months.

The Bitch is back! And better then ever! #BritneyReturns

SONY Bring them BACK for PS4 and VITA!

Heck no. If it were me i'd even cut down a little (starting with Quantic Dream)

Terrible analysis.

The whole market has changed. When PS2 launched there were 3rd parties making exclusive games simply because there was nothing else to release them on. The parity between PS4 and X1 is unprecedented in the history of (3d) consoles - it's too easy to make multiplats to ignore. And as some have mentioned, games cost HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS of dollars. They are MUCH MUCH more expensive to make and hence there is a much larger risk involved when publishing a game - doing so on multiple platforms decreases this risk.

As I said, terrible analysis.

But what do 3rd party exclusives have to do with this? I'm talking about the Sony games. I didn't add 3rd party games like GTA3 and Final Fantasy 10 for a reason.

It's a joke? Sony is the first party with more development teams so far. This thread sounds like politics against Sony, playing with dates and facts. Sony didn't develop many games in early PS3 life because of its hard difficult arquitecture. Final years for PS3 there was a lot of first party exclusives. First year of PS4 has only three mayor exclusives made by Sony studios (Killzone: Shadow Fall, InFamous: Second Son, and Driveclub) because Sony didn't kill PS3, but now many titles were confirmed for this year and 2015 like The Order: 1886, Uncharted 4, Gran Turismo 7, ABZÛ, and projects by Naughty Dog, Santa Monica Studios, Japan Studio, London Studio, and Media Molecule, all confirmed, in addition with other confirmed exclusive games from third parties produced by Sony (who keeps the rights) like RiME, Bloodborne or Shadow of the Beast. And remastered games like The Last of Us o Ratchet and Clank. I insist. All exclusive. Real exclusive.

You said that Sony couldn't release that many games early on because it was hard to develop for, right? Well why is it that PS4 development is slower than PS3 development? PS4 is easy to develop for, right?

Does anybody remember back in 2006, 07 and early 08 when ps3 was NOTORIOUS for having "NO GAEMS"? (Shout out to Badgenome!) Well let's take a look at how the PlayStation 4 is doing exclusive-wise compared to what the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 did by the end of their first full years exclusive-wise.

PS2:

2000 = Fantavision, NFL Gameday 2001, NCAA Final Four 01, NCAA Gamebreaker 01

01 = ATV Off Road Fury, NBA Shootout 2001, Dark Cloud, Cool Boarders 2001, Twisted Metal Black, Gran Turismo 3: A-spec, Extermination, ICO, Formula 1 2001, Okage: Shadow King, Kinetica, NCAA Final Four 02, Frequency, NFL Gameday 02, Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy

Total PS2 Exclusives = 19 Exclusives

PS3:

06 = Resistance Fall Of Man, Genji: Days Of The Blade, NBA 07, Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom

07 = Formula 1: Championship Edition, Motorstorm, Warhawk, Lair, Heavenly Sword, NBA 08, Folklore, Eye Of Judgement, Ratchet & Clank: Tools Of Destruction, Uncharted: Drakes Fortune

Total PS3 Exclusives = 14 Exclusives

PS4:

2013 = Killzone: Shadow Fall, Knack

2014 = Infamous: Second Son, MLB 14: The Show, Driveclub, Little Big Planet 3, BloodBorne

Total PS4 Exclusives = 7 Exclusives

Read it & wheep!

WTF is going on at Sony? You have all these studios but where are the games?!? It's like seeing a big muscle bound dude who lifts weights but doesn't know how to fight. All that buffness for no reason..

..sh!t is ridiculous!

Why cant you just rekindle that flame that made PS fans become fans in the 1st place?

Whatever..

So what's going on with Sony? Do you think Sony needs more studios? Am i just losing my mind and being a negative nancy? or could i be on to something here?

Let me know in the comments below

I respectfully disagree with everything you said. If you remember correctly, Microsoft stopped pumping out exclusives for the 360 4 years ago. Whereas Sony continued to pump out exclusives like TLOU, God of War, GT6 up until and after the PS4 was released. So most sony developers are still a bit early in the development of their games. Also, games are much more complex these days, therefore, forcing studios to either take a decade to produce a game or hire more employees. More employees isn't exactly as ideal as a small studio due to it being more difficult to get everyone on the same page all the time. So I believe it's a combination of the above. Microsoft is the one lacking developers. Hell, they let Bungie go. As well as Mass Effect. Anyway, back to the topic at hand. Due to the longer development cycles of this generation, games will only be coming out from a studio once every 2.5 to 3 years. Sony recognized this and filled the gaps in with lots of fun indie games. Also, I believe anyone with a mature mind would agree.

I would also like to say, I feel as if this whole, "make 50 posts until you can post a topic" thing is stupid. I hardly ever post but I've been lurking on this board for about 4 years. Just my innocent opinion. At first I felt like the rule was to keep people who got banned from just making a new account and posting everywhere, but I don't know why Vgchartz wouldn't just ban their IP address all together.
