Xbox Division head honcho Phil Spencer isn’t new to outings in favor of Microsft’s competitors at Sony and Nintendo, and he was very explicit about it in an interview on Gamertag Radio.

About Nintendo, he started by saying that he loved how they begun the show with the fighting scene, and how they didn’t take themselves too seriously.

They had games, they had their video stuff, they shown a couple different devices, I thought they did a nice job showing games and when they’re gonna come out. It’s a good time to be a gamer. We spent ninety minutes on games. We really focused on 2014, games that are coming out this year. There are alot of good games on Sony’s Platforms and a lot of good games on Nintendo’s platforms. It’s just a good time to be a gamer right now.

Considering the flames we read every day between fans waving their consoles’ flags, it’s always refreshing to hear someone in Spencer’s position expressing the spirit that should truly animate us all.

Many don’t understand that wishing failure on the competition is ultimately self-damaging, and maybe some would really need to learn a lesson or two from those actually working on their favorite consoles.

He's awesome! 

I've never expected to say this, but Phil Spencer is actually a pretty nice guy! I take back all the bad things I said about him.

Phil's a cool dude. Maybe we'll see MS collaborate more with it's current competitors in the future. Smart, friendly guy like this in charge, it could definitely happen.
