Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Why I don't like Nintendo

Am I the only person on VGC who sees value in all 3 console makers?

Nope. I think they all have some great qualities but I do however think that Nintendo at this point is the weakest in terms of overall console experience. It is limited to decent to great first party titles. They get little to no real third party support these days because they are always looking to build the cheapest (in manufacturing cost not necessarily consumer pricing) consoles that underperform the rival boxes and offer nothing that is not available elsewhere. Motion controls? Available on Xbox and Playstation. Second screen tablet functionality or remote play capabilities? Available on XBox and Playstation.

Nintendo doesn't need it's own console to make great games. For the life of me I just don't understand why Nintendo fans just can't seem to let go of the fact that Nintendo is increasingly becoming irrelevant in the home console market and needs to shift to third party status so that they can start making their games for the masses at large again. Its not a postion of shame or denegration of Nintendo or it's memory etc. As a third party dev Nintendo would make a killing in the Activiison/EA vein. And please don't tell me look at what happened to Sega. Sega was no where near as diversified as Nintendo nor did they have the same cache as far as IPs go. I loved Sonic but compared to Mario? No contest.

As someone who hasn't owned a Nintendo console since N64 (the last time I was a three home console owner PS1, N64, Saturn) I miss some of those venerable Nintendo franchises but I am just not willing to forgo all the great third party etc. games available on other platforms to own a Nintendo console for a few great but rehashed franchises nor am I willing to crowd my entertainment center with that many console boxes any more. I'd say the same of ANY of the three current console makers if they were in the same position as Ninty at this point.

So for many of us it comes down to a choice and more and more Nintendo is losing out when those choices are made. To me third party in the home console market just makes more sense.

2. I played Mario games since I was 8 years old.  Fast forward 20 years later,  they're still making Mario games. Princess Peach.. that bitch keep getting kidnapped.

Peach wasn't kidnapped in the last one:P

3. Yes, they continue to copy their own mediocre games after copies after copies, so many copies.  Pokemon red, blue, ruby, yellow, gold, silver, X, Y, Crystal, green, pearl, emerald, black and white, Black and White 2..(there is more) from 1996 to present. I was happy with just 150 Pokemon.

The latest iteration is more centered on battling online, the gameplay has become a lot more advanced since 1996.

6. Let me tell you what Nintendo cares about. They care about their own IPs. They make their system for their IPs. They don't really care about anything else because they know pokemon, zelda, and mario is all they need.

This is actually more or less true, though Idk if they don't care about 3rd parties, they just seem to be more interested in advancing their own IP's.

7. When I look at Mario games, kart, smash, pokemon etc. I see nothing new.

I can't help you if you're blind:P

8. If Nintendo is going to make a new RPG game, then I hope they leave Mario out of it. Anything with Mario or Zelda is a turn off.

They do have Golden Sun.

I don't hate Nintendo, I just don't like all the coping, and over rated games they keep printing. Those games show me nothing that compels me to buy it. Its like once I've played one, I've played them all, just like the CoD franchise, and I'm done with that series too.

Every company does this.  Halo 5 is coming out and that doesn't include all of the spinoffs.  We have like 3 gears of wars, 4 god of wars, we are on our fifth uncharted, 3 bioshocks, 3 infamous games, I mean the list goes on and on.  The sad thing is that most of those games I mentioned all came out last gen.  Companies like to rehash the same games that sell.  Naughty Dog was cool because they would create a new IP followed by 2 sequels and a kart racer.  But now, not only did they not make unkarting, but they are adding a 5th game....FIFTH!  Then their is ratchet and clank....anyways.  The point is that every company does this (not just Nintendo).  It's cool that nintendo has finally made a new IP/franchise with splatoon and I hope it does great because that might lead to Nintendo creating more new IP's.  But the one thing about Nintendo is that they don't abandon their IP's like sony did with Crash and Spyro.

What Nintendo needs to do is make more new fresh games like Xenoblade Chronicles X. Now this game.. This is a game I want.

It's basically a rehash of xenoblade chronicles....

Honestly, it sounds to me like you just don't like Nintendo games.  And even if they made new IP's, you probably wouldn't like them.

You say Nintendo games. I just don't like 3 Nintendo franchises. So you mean to tell me Nintendo is only about Mario and friends?

Here I am wanting them to make new fresh games like X.

Something tells me that even if they did make new IPs, YOU wouldn't like them.

Just wish Nintendo would have an IP that was more realistic. The cartoony stuff got old for me. Could still play the new stuff, just won't care about it.

I expected some actual evidence or impressions here. Obviously looking in the wrong place for that. -_-

While I enjoy gaming one of the things I've noticed is Nintendo keeps delivering in my opinion excellent quality games ones after another year after year and is probably the only company that I can say I would buy there game on release date and know I will get my money's worth.

meh, your clearly just trolling but I'm bored.

You made it clear that you think every Nintendo game since the GC error is mediocre (pikmin, animal crossing, xenoblade chronicles, wii sports etc.)  So yes, saying "Nintendo Games" is accurate.

I never said Nintendo is only about Mario and friends.

Like I said in my last post, X is a spiritual successor to xenoblad chronicles and is likely a "rehash."

I said nothing to suggest that I wouldn't like a Nintendo new IP.  So your last line is rather confusing.

I made it clear that I don't like Mario and friends, including Pokemon and Zelda from GC onwards.

Where did I put pikmin or animal crossing? Oh, I never did.

Average out how many Call of Duty games have been made in the last 2 generations to how many console Zelda's Nintendo has made since 1987 and tell me which one is overkill. How many HALO's between XBox-Xbox 360. There were 3 Uncharted games in a 5 year span on PS3. Are you seriously implying that new gamers just getting into video games shouldn't get to play a new Mario or a new Zelda game just because you've been playing since NES?

Was there really a need for ANOTHER "Why I don't like Nintendo" thread anyway?

Everyone says they want a new IP from Nintendo. Nintendo releases one and nobody buys it. They release a title with Mario in it and it sells over a million copies no problem. What is Nintendo to infer from this data?
