Forums - Politics Discussion - Russia to Ban U.S. From International Space Station?- Oh god...

It wouldn't be very international then but why exactly would the US rely on another country to go to space

It costs 2 billion a year to run Nasa when it had space shuttles. 2 sounds a lot except when we spends many times that on military. More money is spent on pizza in the US than it costs to operate Nasa.

Its not Russia banning USA form International Space Station. Its USA bans themselves with their idiotic 'Ukraine sanctions'.

Because countries should remain friendly and keep trade going even when other countries invade their neighbours?

So you think that invading countries far from you is a better decision? (I mean Afganistan/Iraq). USA should be banned from UN for starting wars and killing thousands of innocent people a long time ago. Also Russia didn't invade Ukraine yet. Currently its Ukraine army who kills Ukraine people with tanks and bombs.

2 Billion? that number looks wonky. Nasa's budget is around ~17 billion last I looked.

Whatever is happening in Ukraine is pretty screwed and regardless of whether they actually invaded Russia could have handled it a lot better.

The US really should have handled Afghanistan and Iraq much better as well, but them doing things wrong doesn't justify others to also do things wrong.

I think it can be well and truly argued that everyone has handled Ukraine badly, especially the US. Russia took about the only option left open to them after an openly anti russian group took control of the Ukraine as Russia need the Crimea. I would love to see a much more transparent and open referendum in crimea, but either way Crimea would not be a part of Ukraine anymore and sanctions and bluster aren't going to change that.

Because the United States is currently suffering from a wave of anti-science, anti-intellectualism.  Cutting the miniscule budget of NASA, without considering the vast, vast amount of technology that has emerged from the Space program.  Here, Tyson lays out the situation better (see below).  The other issue is that the US really didn't evolve with the technology as near earth orbit space flight became less of a daunting task.  This should've been moved to the private sector awhile ago, but the Government failed to make it an attractive option quickly enough, once they showed it was doable.

along with the Russian 'volunteers' that cross the borders with tanks, anti-air missile and others.
