Forums - Gaming Discussion - X is not impressive graphically.

I love great looking games, full HD, textures etc. But also as someone who loves JRPG's just as much you learn to appreciate the gameplay and story too. I love Tales of games and they all look horrible compared to a lot of games, so to each their own.

Whether you find it impressive or not really depends on what you focus on. Just like the first game, X offers an impressive looking world thanks to the large scope, art style and level design, but it comes at the cost of less impressive models.

ok what about the 2d grass every where,  horrible animation, and a lighting engine that is pretty pathetic, look at the differnce in lighting in GTAV and red dead, everything is dynamic, shadows react to light, in X everthing is static, shadows do not react to light. the lighting engine is very dated.

obvious troll thread. but i like how it looks and intend on guetting it. plus xenoblade looked awful if you compared it to the ps360 rival games, yet it still consider the best rpg of last generation.

It takes genuine talent to see greatness in yourself despite your absence of genuine talent.

I am hoping we get a good jRPG out of this. It's been a while.

xenoblade didn't look too good either.

Who says the graphics are final. It could get much better (or much worse)

XBOX ONE/Wii U/3DS/PC

Thanks for all the great memories!

Another bait Wii U Graphics thread from NinjaBlade. His dedication to the console is truly astounding.

Locking.

Roboplato sounds just like Ninjablade and you can see it by comparison, but he evolved a bit so he got a bit better at trying to hide is identity apparently, who would make these kind of threads to bash a Wii U game and do unfair comparisons...

Developer of Xenoblade Chronicles X is Monolith Soft, this is their first time on an HD console, they are using their brand new engine on Xenoblade Chronicles X which is also their first true open world game, this is first time they are using actual shaders and not fixed function like they did on PlayStation 2 and Wii, they are jumping right from DX7-8 capable hardware to DirectX 11 capable hardware and from Shader Model 1.0 to 5.0 and it is on a new hardware.

Compared to Rockstar that has right now nearly two decades of experience in Open World games, have more staff working on their games, they released a lot of games using same Rage engine that improved over time after each new game as they optimized the hardware for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 so GTA 5 is using all the potential of those two consoles, they use various tricks to make game look better, they balance detail and effects use to get most detail out of it and they use really noticeable LOD which cuts some alot of assets sharply and results in all sort of nasty pop-ups. Rockstar is now working nearly a decade on HD twins.

In comparison Monolith Soft probably has 1/5th of that are nowhere as experienced as Rockstar to begin with.

Also do you know any JRPG that looks better and is actual Open-World and not turn based?

If this looks to you like a PlayStation 2 game then every Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 game should work on PlayStation 2 by your standards and opinion and seriously since when character models that roughly could have 15 thousand polygons are PlayStation 2 level which ordinarily has 5000 polygons for most JRPG's or actually less.

Also GTA 5 also uses sprites, all grass in all video games are practically sprites consisting from 1 to few 5 polygon rectangles that contain texture of grass with some transparent parts. Its not like true grass like each blade is individual on the field and can move individually.

Xenoblade Chronicles X is technically impressive if you compare it to games on HD twins like it or not.

Game after Xenoblade Chronicles X from Monolith Soft X will look better than it.

Look at Super Mario 3D World and compare it to Mario Kart 8, its a huge leap that its not even funny, you can clearly see that Nintendo learned how to use the hardware at least to some degree, like Sony and Microsoft did when they first entered into HD hardware...

Anyway I am laughing at few threads on NeoGAF that I lurk on with observing some stupidity...

Like one fool compared Xenosaga to Xenoblade Chronicles X because of characters models look like PS2 yet XBX model has at least 3 times more polygons and far far higher resolution textures, far better animations and XBX has far more bones on their models to allow more life like animations and has animated fingers, etc...

Fourth Storm's posts are ridicilous, what an aho... Baka.

Claiming that Wii U GPU is something akin to 6450 and says that somehow Wii U's GPU is somehow compensating what it lacks compared to HD twins in GPU area which is impossible because if you have half ROP's and CU's, it is not possible to compensate, its just aint possible. Anyone knows that has some actual knowledge about hardware, anyone with basics should came up with rational and logical solution. Those frauds keep sprouting inaccurate information that was given by a troll and somehow is legitimate... Jesus.
