Forums - Gaming Discussion - How Much Will Xbox One lead Wii U by the End of the Year?

Great thread Toast... do you keep a tab of all your crazy predictions to see if one is right so you can tag on your sig?? Because calling yourself the greatest predukter with only one predicition right and 100 of wrong ones make no sense..

I can see a tie or X1 trailing by 500k, and no way any of them will get over 10M this year.

-3m?.. If it passes Wii U, it won't be until 2016.

so the gap will become bigger with 20 more launch countrys and 3 exclusiv games?

interesting thought...

Is it really that interesting though? 20 countries Microsoft ignored because sales would be negligable, 2nd Forza game in a year, $60 collection of 4 Halo games I could buy used for $40, and Sunset Overdrive. Super Smash Bros. will probably do more for the Wii U than all those things combined for the Xbone. According to VGChartz, the 3rd week of Mario Kart 8 did more for the Wii U than the Kinectless SKU did for Xbone.

hell yes

to make this happen, xbox one need to fail completely in the holiday season.and do as poorly as may.

<500k figures for november and dezember npd. (~50% yoy decrease)

The Wii U will still be up by a million+ at the end of the year.

the wii u just have to sell 500k-1m more than the xbone.  it will be close in the US, and completly devastating for the xbone in the EU and japan...

Yeah, the WiiU is getting Smash Bros., so I think they will keep the lead. The MC Collection will be a big system seller I think though...

I say at least 2 million. Wii U will hit around 9 million by years end. Xbox One should be at 11-13 million.

Xb one might close the gap (though most recent sales numbers bring that into question) but I don't think it will overtake Wii U this year.

Like I said before, I don't think that the X1 will take a lead on Wii U this year. The Wii U will have a 1-2 millions lead over X1.

And if X1 would have a lead in the end of this year it will be less than one million and almost equal in sales.

In the years that come I do however believe that X1 will overtake the Wii U, if not things change.

I own two og Xbox consoles and MCC doesn't interest me in the least. Europe is lost, forget about that. Forget dlc, all the multiplats are better on ps4 and people know this by now. Sunset overdrive is a niche title released in the worst possible date and will get crushed by the major titles in sales, Forza will compare poorly to Driveclub, and there is already a forza game out that didn't help.

And above all. Xb1 did great on launch, that's where virtually all of their sales have been. 2014 has been a relentless disaster for them. The numbers are too vast to catch them this year. WiiU will have a price cut as well, mark my words. You also have a lot of hardcore gamers that already have a ps4, and many of these people will pick up a U this holiday if the price is right. It will be.

1.)  The X1 is still selling in Europe, and the Wii U has only sold 20% more units than the X1 there despite being release a whole year earlier.  Also, there are still some European teritories where the X1 has not released in, and will do so in September right around the time FH2 comes out, which should help sell a good bit of consoles there on release.

2.)Sunset overdrive is an open world 3rd person shooter with zombies, how is that a niche title?  Historically, games like that have done verry well sales wise.  (dead Island, Dead Rising, ect)

3.)  How will Forza Horizon 2 compair poorly to Driveclub?  Firstly, they are two verry different games.  Secondly, FH2 has 200 cars, a huge open world with 700+ events/challenges to complete that will provide 100+ hours of playtime (according to Playground Games), and a real time wheather and lighting system just like driveclub.  Sure DC looks a little better, but it is not open world, so compairing graphics between the two games in not exactly fair, and the difference is not that big to start with.

4.)2014 has not been a "relentless disaster" as you say.  Remember Wii U's first year on the market where they sold just 160k units in a whole quarter (3 months)??  That was a disaster.  So far this year the X1 has out paced the Wii U's sales globally month after month.  Just because the X1 can't match the PS4 (which has broken many sales records) does not mean that it has had a disaster year.
