Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony and Games

So this always seems to be a reacuring thing every gen, PS has no games, PS2 has no games, PS3 has no games, PSP has no games, PS4 has no games, PSVita has no games. I'm really baffled as to why people think this, I'm assuming most people saying this either has never owned a Sony console and are just trolling or these people are just completely oblivious as to whats about to come to the new system.

I remember a lot of this talk for the PS3 and for a good year or two it did have a limited number of games. Here's one thread I found back in 2007 as to games people were excited for:

Not a whole lot to be excited for (lol Haze), only a few games were actually good on that list. That's just the way it is. Rigth now on the PS3 I own around 30 games and on the top of my head there's another dozen really popular games I have not even played yet (been dying to play The Last of Us).

Games seem to come in strides, the first batch of games we see in the first two years of the PS4's life will be mediocre anyone that buys a launch console should know this. After that batch of games the developers now know the full specs of the console and can really take advantage of it and do incredible things with it, that seems to be the sweet spot for games 2 - 3+ years after a release of a new system, the best time to buy a console (lower price, big bundles, tons of games).

Another thing to is it's Sony. We all know they know what we want is games and thats what they put out, new IP's, all the multiplats and great first party games, they always been like this everyone that's owned a Sony console should know this. Just be patient, the games will come. In the meantime finish playing all those amazing PS3 games you haven't finished yet.

Yes you are right, Sony will start releasing lots of good quality games in a year.

Don't fret.... anyone saying the PS has no games either doesn't own a PS, hates the brand or has never owned a PS. Every single gen its the same thing. I don't look at comments like that as something to ponder over, I see it as a way to filter out who to ignore and who not to.

There really is no no need to get into it. When it comes to the playstation, multiplats aren't games, exclusives are all crap and indie games aren't games. If you take those people seriously, you might as well take a nintendo fan that says the wiiU has the best third party support seriously too.

Doesn't matter to me at all really, I've got plenty to play for the rest of this year. 2015 is going to be great regardless of what platform you play on. Let the haters keep on hating :P

They're just trolling, you don't need to give them any more attention than they deserve.

Well, the first problem is listening to internet mouthpieces, and reacting to them. Sony's track record on games is pretty much beyond reproach. Every company starts off slow in a new generation, and it's a convenient thing to latch onto, if you're a fan of one particular side, or another.

And I don't know who laid that claim, but saying the PS2 has no games pretty much removes you from any conversation as far as knowledge in the games industry.

Haters gonna hate, Playstation gamers are gonna game.

As a Playstation fa myself for over one and a half decade, I have to agree. But with western support, they dropped the ball with the Vita. Don't get me wrong, I actually have a massive backlog for my Vita, but I can understand when somebody, who likes more non-niche games and genres, might complain.

But then we still have the support of Japan, and this gen, their localization efforts kicked into full gear

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

Every playstation console at launch = no games.

Every playstation portable console throughout lifetime = no games.

Well, I believe that both consoles have a lot of games to keep gamers busy :)
First and more importantly third parties.
