Is it?  Everything I've read so far indicates the xbox division is yet to make a profit.  MS is making money from their OS and other tidbits, but the xbox division is never included in the conversation.  Even in the other article I posted it says, at best xbox could turn a profit, but there's an if stipulation attached to it, something the x1 has yet to achieve, like enough sales.  Add in the costs of R&D for the kinect2, the console itself, and buying 3rd party IPs in hoping to push hardware and a price drop 7 months in a console life because they Xbox is getting killed in the sales department doesn't reek of profit.  unless you can tell me otherwise how sales doesn't equate to profit..

Don't see how someone like you or others that's soooo business savy loves to clump and downplay PS4's financial success with Sony's financial issues while singing praises of MS's financial success with the xbox division's financial ineptitude.  Please compare apples to apples.  Xbox division not profitable.  Playstation division is profitable.  MS company as a whole is profitable.  Sony company as a whole isn't profitable. comprende?

Missed sales = missed profits.. That's business 101 too. ;)

Its simple really.

He using the fact that Sony is a worse position than Microsoft, to claim that XB1 is more profitable then PS4, because all the other metrics are easily shown to be in PS4 favor and he believe us ignorant of how the actual PlayStation and Xbox divisions of there respective companies are doing, something completly ludicrous considering this is the forum of a video game sales tracking site, thus the knowledge that the PS4 was just as profitable as the XB1 at 499 is common knowledge.

Ironically, the unbundling of the Kinect, incurs loss however minor they maybe so as of now the PS4 is even more profitable then the XB1. Add to that the gap of 2+ million and the incorecctness of his statement becomes obvious.

He doesn't have a leg to stand on.

The XB1 is doing "well" in a Vacuum, but against the PS4, the only thing it has in favor right now is 1~2 more exclusives to release this year, only the Halo remake promises to be 1080p and or 60 fps.

XB1 needs to pass Wii U before we even talk about how its faring against PS4, and while its the popular belief that it will happen this year, and more likely that it will happen eventually, until it happens, those defending the one shouldn't assume its already there, cause its not.

You can't think about getting to first when you still in last.

I wonder how many xbox loyalists would have a nervous breakdown if a cash happy corp like Samsung or apple were to buy PS from sony.

No one in their right mind will buy the very last gen of console business. Next gen will be based in the cloud as TV devices will plug directly into the cloud to play your virtual console of choice. If Sony collapses due to its appalling financial situation so to will the PlayStation brand.

Meh. I still think some really loud, whiny people on the internet that had no intention of ever buying an Xbox of any sort were the ones who did them in.

If I had a dollar for everyone I knew that screamed about "never buying online-only games/consoles" and then has stuff like Destiny on pre-order for their always-connected PS4.....well I could buy a PS4 and Destiny. Still think it was much ado about nothing and they should've just stuck to their guns and seen what happened.

Refer to the posts above regarding a possible cash happy buyer such as as Samsung or Apple buying PlayStation. I am responding to this with a point of view. Thanks.

As per topic.

Destiny will likely sink X1 for good, lots of halo and xbox loyalists are calling for Destiny boycotts cause they are ass hurt over their close deal with sony. This game will do 3or4-1 sales in PS4 favor.

It will set up the PS4 as the defacto Fps console for NA.
