Forums - Gaming Discussion - Bungie Explains Why Destiny Is Not 60fps On The PS4 And Xbox One

Platform equality - the biggest bullshit statement in the industry since moneyhatting.

Microsoft and Sony brought out their consoles a year too early in my opinion. I think for their consoles (Nintendo as always is doing it's own thing). 2K/60fps should have been the norm as to somewhat keep up with the PC's. Seeing the real Watch Dogs graphics unlocked, it doesn't spell any good that the PS4 runs downgraded visuals at 900p/30fps and the X1 doesn't do any better. 9th gen better be 4K/60fps for the big 2/3.

No, last gen lasted too long. The sales for 7th gen consoles were getting too low as well.

Then they should have put more powerfull hardware in them in the first place, they aren't going to be very longlasting this way.

"We’re always balancing that out to make sure everyone gets the same experience."

But why is this important though? If one console is capable to squeezing out a few more frames per second, why not allow it? Why actively gimp it?

It sounds downright silly when you remember that the PS4 version is getting exclusive content at launch. Also want to note that he's talking about all 4 platforms, not just PS4/X1. Sounds like it won't be 60fps on PS4 because they're not acheiving that on PS360. That's what I read, anyway.

Average TV resolution/refresh rate will be the norm of consoles, they will never exceed that. To talk about 2k now is nonsensical. Consoles have never been about keeping up with PCs, and they sure as hell aren't going to do it with 10+ year old hardware.

Well once ND show them what can be done on ps4 , they have to adopt or go extinct .

As long as it is locked I could care less.  Gimme 1080p!!! :)

I don't see how someone can be an Xbox fan seeing as just about every decision MS makes in regards for the Xbox is bad for gamers. Name one PRO gamer decision they have ever made. Now everyone has to suffer because MS gimped the XB1 because they wanted to push Kinect 2. Now the are Abandoning K2 and we are stuck with games gimped so they will run on both consoles. Parity clause or Bungie being lazy. pick one.

I'm not a big MS fan by any stretch but I can't agree with your post. Both systems could have been 4 times as strong and I'm sure most games would still carry their current res and framerate. Every game on these consoles could have been 1080p60 if developers wanted them to be, but they chose to aim for 30fps or 720p  to push better visual effects or get the performance they feel their game requires. Happened last gen with 720p30 vs [various random numbers]p60. We've seen it happen several times this gen, and until there's a true demand from gamers for 60fps in all games, it will keep happening on consoles. And people talk about pretty graphics way more than they do framerate.
