Why does this game bring hope when the last few were not exactly great? We have been so let down. Ultimate Tenkaichi might as well have been named "Ultimate Tragedy." The latest game... I won't even say it's name. There is great reason to doubt any future Dragonball games. But read on fellow Dragonball fans!

First of all--and perhaps the best news--is that long gone Dimps, is returning for this new game. They were the ones that created the excellent trilogy on the PS2: Dragonball Z Budokai 1-3. Part 3 is regarded as the best DBZ game ever by many fans. It is my second favorite personally, behind Tenkaichi 2. Anyway, Dimps made quality DBZ games and we may be in for a great DBZ game for the first time since the PS2 era.

Second, It will be available for the PS4 and XB1, so the graphics will be the best ever! However, inferior versions will be available for the PS3 and 360. Graphics aren't everything though. The last couple of DB games had nice graphics but gameplay was kinda bad. So on to the exciting 3rd!

Third, Dimps has stated that they hope to make this the ultimate DB game ever! They are using the Havoc engine to create perhaps the most destructable environments in a DB game ever. It will be full 3D gameplay too. Sounds like a nice mix of Dimps with Spike influence. Spike actually made great DBZ games back in the PS2 era. Don't know what happened to them in the PS3 era.

Fourth, the story. Even as a die hard DBZ fan, even I have finally begun to tire of the same story over and over for each game. This is, afterall, the 15th game since the original Budokai on PS2. The only new detail--albeit an interesting one--to the story is that a new character has appeared with a Capsule corp jacket, and he has red hair. A picture shows him watching the original battle between Vegeta and Goku from behind a rock. Why is he there? Is he from the future? This could put a new spin on the DBZ story. Interesting.

Lastly, some little details. It's still early in development, so the character roster revealed is not large, but with such an ambitious statement from Dimps, I expect a large cast of characters. Also, Dimps worked on the great Street Fighter IV games on PS3/360. They are long time pros. Dragonball: Xenoverse is subtitled with a "XV" indicating that is the 15th game since their Budokai debut on the PS2--as I mentioned above--so I expect special treatment with this one. After the last bombing DBZ game on PS3 and 360, Bandai-Namco must be putting a lot of effort into this one to make it a profitable series again. In order to do that, the game will need to be great, especially if they are spending the cash to make PS4 and XB1 versions.

I have hope in a great DBZ game for the first time in years! Does this bring hope to any of my fellow DBZ fans as well? Please comment. I look forward to reading them!

I always hated Dragonball Z. Dragonball was always way better. Actually, Dragonball Z was good too, until they introduced Freiza.

*sigh*

I wish they'd make a real Dragonball game instead of a bunch of Z ones.

The Legacy Of Goku 2 and Buu's Fury are the best DBZ games!

Funny, Frieza is my favorite characer nxt to Goku! We are opposite. But hey, there are games based on the original Dragonball on DS/ Wii and I believe other platforms too.

Not Budokai Tenkaichi = No buy - (not really) but hated budokai series, and everything 7th gen.
