Massive impact on software sales... But only 500k sold? I dont know if I would call that massive...

I certainly have no interest in the game, but if people are excited about it, more power to them!

Demon's Souls has 1.69m and Dark Souls PS3 version has 1.79m.  Dark Souls 2 PS3 has .89m.  This game should get 500k in its first week and easily hit 1m LTD.

Oh, im sure it will, I was just commenting on the op.  He said it would have a massive impact on software sales, and then said it will sell at least 500k... Kind of contradictory statements...

Its really strange they decided against including souls in the name.

Souls games definitely have a hardcore rabid fanbase. And to them, it will deffo move consoles.

How many? IDK. 500k sounds reasonable, but is that really all that big in the larger situation? The gap in the US is already knocking on 1M, and will probably be a lot larger by early 2015.

Of course, this could surprise us and pull in a larger fanbase this time, as the graphics look like they will be a HUGE step up from the past games in the series.

Great games though they may be, the Souls series has always looked basically like they were sloppily ported off of a PS2. Even on PC they look like total garbage. They are probably the best argument for gameplay >>> graphics of all time. And now we will have gameplay ++++++++++++ graphics :D (for those that like it).

How is it an argument for "Gameplay over graphics"?  Better graphics would suck you into the world's of the series' even moreso than now.  You do realize that graphics make up part of a game, and therefore part of the gameplay... right?  They don't fight each other lol.

No they don't fight, but according to the vast majority of Souls games fans, they loved them and didn't care that the graphics were average at best compared to the usual AAA fare.

Would you rather have an average game with exceptional graphics, or an exceptional game with average graphics?

In a perfect world we'd have exceptional games with exceptional graphics, but those are rare indeed.

I would rather have both like in games such as Killzone 2 and MGS4.  Having mediocre graphics isn't actively bad, but it has been holding back the series a little.  In the first 2 souls games their were unacceptable framerate drops that would immediately remind you this is a game and pull you out of the experience.  Also there was a ton of people complaining about Dark Souls 2 underdelivering on graphics so I am sure those people disagree with you (I got it on PC so I am not one of them).

Its overhyped that's why .

Not really, I'm from the netherlands and i had the pleasure of visiting E3. I got to see the footage behind close doors thanks to a friend of mine who's a game reporter, so lucky me. Believe me when i say that this game is underhyped lol. The footage shown there was just unbelievable. i was speechless, I stil am. I dont know why but the souls really brings out the child in me. i dont know why it gets me so excited every time. No other game has ever given me the same emotional happy state. Its just unreal. The game will be a system seller for sure.

Rereading your comment I really don't know what I was thinking.  Somehow I read it wrong and assumed you were saying you didn't think it would be that massive.

So yeah.  I agree with what you said.

It might even sell a system to me who's never played a Souls game in his life. Though I guess I'm the exception there and I'm going to get a PS4 sooner or later anyway.

Well, you cant say it is going to have a massive impact and then stay on safe side... I mean, you could at least say 1 million, becuse I think that is pretty safe...

”The environment where PlayStation wins is best for this industry” (Jack Tretton, 2009)

Id guess with Dark Souls 2 coming out recently, the majority of the rabid Souls hardcore crowd have yet to buy a new console.

Bloodborne will sell systems to those fans (and some others). With Japan Studio's working with From Software on the title (and From Software's recent purchase) it might be the start of a new and fruitful relationship.

From Software's parent Company (Kadokawa Games) most recent game "Demon Gaze" was self published in Japan and Published by NISA in the USA (Who has published a good 95% + of their games on PlayStation Platforms and the most recent non PS platform was the Wii in 2009). It will be very interesting to see who ends up publishing the game, now that FromSoftware is owned by a Publisher.   Sony could very easily rent out the help of Japan Studios to help drop development costs and in exchange get Exclusivity, while Kadokoawa retains ownership of the IP and can publish atleast in Japan (donno if they publish outside  Japan).  Seems like a Win Win but its to bad that I do not think Sony is smart enough for that to happen (IE what happend with Insomniac)
