Turn based strategy game from Intelligent Systems was all I needed to hear to be sold. Art inspired by J. Kirby, monsters after H.P. Lovecraft, and a steampunk scenario are just nice bonuses.

Looks different, for sure.

I'm all for new IPs and this one seems interesting enough, but I'd rather someone else handled this so IS can work on SMT v FE, a new FE or Advance Wars. Still will reserve judgement until gameplay.

They can make multiple games at the same time. They suggested they've been working on or at least planning the next FE and AW for some time, and Atlus is helping with SMTxFE... honestly for some reason I've been thinking that was primarily an Atlus-developed game all along, though I don't think anyone ever said as much.

No matter what Nintendo studio you assign to make a new IP, there will always be an existing IP (or several) they could have been making instead. Sakamoto is working on Splatoon instead of Metroid/WarioWare/Rhythm Heaven/Tomodachi. Miyamoto is working on Giant Robot and Guard instead of... well, everything except Star Fox.

You can't keep all of your experienced studios working on endless sequels while only allowing scrubs to make new IP. Intelligent Systems is a skilled and productive studio, they're a great choice to assign the task of developing a new IP for 3DS. Besides, who else would Nintendo ask to make a turn-based strategy game??

Anyone seen any gameplay?

From the screenshots it reminds me of Valkyria Chronicles which is fine, but not a big fan of the art direction.

The vibe I get really is that of an ugly Valkyria Chronicles. Even has the sound effects popping up on screen as words. Looks like it might be more confined in terms of space, though, and that interface is confusing.

Still, it's TBS from a proven developer so the game-play will probably be fun.

Damn it, now I want more Valkyria Chronicles ...
