Forums - Gaming Discussion - Nintendo is too afraid of making a mature game

Can you imagine a Demon Souls style Zelda game?

Cause I can.

This is the Game of Thrones

Where you either win

or you DIE

They are too afraid to make game for hardcore gamers all they do recyle kid games mario and more. They even forced platinum to remove nudity from bayonetta sequel and remaster. So anyway they are seeing results of being afraid and no mature all kids games by sales. Gamers slapping nintendo with sales. Wii u is epic colostrual failure. If they do only kid games in future that company will going to history

So... because Nintendo doesn't show boobs and vaginas in their games or peoples guts being spilled out of their stomachs and intentines hanging out of them.... they are a colostrual failure?

This is why I hate the gaming community today. If there is no sex, nudity, guns blazing, peoples heads being blown off, then games are not fun... like what the hell kind of thinking is that? Personally i am glad nintendo is not like that because they give you something fresh, feels warm and is not just another generic shooter, racing or sports game. It just makes me sad that this is why people look at them so bad.

I think it is incredible that you have already played Bayonetta 2 and The Devil's Third to have such God-awful opinions of them.

Where is this Twilight Zone and how do I get there? Is Rod Serling waiting at the signpost up ahead?

I dont say they shouldnt do mario and his friend kid games but if they need sales and third party good reputation they also must do some mature games.

I have a fair question. What is a mature game. Please define it for us from your mind. Is it a pornographic game or a game that must have a certain level of violence? Or is it a game that can't be played on front of a child akin to an R rated movie?

It's funny that you think these are original thoughts, or that this is an insightful, valid point.

Why should Nintendo make so-called "mature" games? And by that, I take it you mean "adult" games with cussing and nudity and blood and gore and guns. Lots and lots of guns. That's not their style, and it never really will be. And for that, I say thank god. Why? Because those games, these days, are a fucking dime a dozen. The kinds of games Nintendo provides, and the usual QUALITY that Nintendo provides, is not, it's rather hard to come by.

And this is why they put money behind things like the NGIII launch title port, or Bayonetta 2, or now Devil's Third. They're trying to get "these kinds of games" on their console as well. It's just harder when third parties need a lot more prodding right now to put content on their system.

But really.........I'm sorry, but that is the most immature point anyone could try to make. "Why doesn't Nintendo make more games with GUNS and EXPLOSIONS and BEWBS, so that I can feel MANLY while playing my game, and not insecure because I like the fact that Mario is cute and colorful?" It's really shallow, and the idea that adults need to play games like that to "feel adult"......there is something very insecure and mildly sociopathic about that.

this is the problem, not all mature games have those things. just exapand their metroid/x/zelda audience.

hey, as a nintendo fan i agree with you. not on the bayonetta stuff, but on the mature part. i see and play games like bioshock, assassins creed, the witcher, uncharted and i say "why can´t nintendo do something like that?" sure mario is fun, mario kart is awesome, nothing beats zelda or metroid ,but they could expand their metroid/zelda audience with more games like that.

A simple answer? Here it is. Because the market is already saturated and although at this current time, violent games are all that sell, it doesn't mean that this will always be the case. The supply of these games is more than meeting the demand with PS, XB and PC. It's basic marketing, business strategy and economics. Ironically (seeing as everyone here states Nintendo is for kids), when men and women grow out of PS and XB, they will continue to have a PC and will buy a Nintendo to play with family and their kids. They may buy 2 games per generation that cannot be played on front of the kids, similar to their DVD collection, but in reality, they will still whip out mario kart with the wife when the kids are in bed. (My resident evil for gamecube was fantastic, I played it once and it's still sitting behind my TV somewhere.

This is the reality, end user, economically and logically. Nintendo have a solid strategy and are at their worst but are looking to ride out the storm. What storm? The storm of their image not fitting the CURRENT market. The world will change again, and Nintendo will still be there with it's image intact.

Just a logical and informed business perspective. If you don't like what I said, it still makes sense from an impartial perspective and it is how Nintendo see things. If you lay it out with their strenghts and weaknesses, what can hurt them and what opportunities they have, Nintendo are doing the right thing.

When are people ever going to learn that grey-scale shooters are not Nintendo's style...and that's ok.

Probably when people also learn that all shooters aren't as some of you make them sound or that mature does not automatically mean shooters. Thats the funny thing about sterotypes, they can go both ways.

As for OP, nintendo doesn't have to do anything. I actually came in here thinking you were talking about their art direction and not the actual type of games they make which I would have agreed with though I understand why they choose their particular brand of art style. I actually like what nintendo does with their games.

So if he got banned for the op post then why is this thread still active?

i wont argue with you because you are right, but i never meant that nintendo should stop making mario, kirby, or DK games or that nintendo should makes games like COD or BF. what i meant is that there are tons o people that dont like mario kirby or DK but love Zelda and metroid, sadly they wont buy a console for those 2 games.

Nintendo has the power to expand  their ips.
