Forums - Gaming Discussion - Amiibo is going to make the holiday season awfully interesting.

I think something everyone here has missed is the chip inside the amiibo figures. They let you send data back to the figures! That means that you could fight in Smash, and record your stats - wins, losses, etc, and maybe even customise certain stats , then pop the data back to the figure, and take it round to a friends house for Smash battles.

"Want to play Smash? Are you picking Mario?
"No, I'm using *my* Mario... Pulls out figure and puts it on pad.

It's like having a memory card with your own personal fighter on it, but so much more imaginative. It's gonna be a big deal.

Exactly, this as explained in detail in the video with Trinen. And it is so awesome.

I want a Bayonetta amiibo, but it probably won't happen right? There should be Megaman, Sonic, and Pac-Man amiibos though right?

I'm gonna go broke buying all these. I think kids will have to ward off a wave of 20/30 somethings to get their hands on some of these, lol.

I doubt non-exclusive amiibos. While Nintendo might include amiibos of 3rd-party, I think they include only offerings exclusive for Nintendo-machines. I might be wrong though, let's see.

And I'm alreaydy get ready for kicking all the kids out of the way to get to my Link and Samus.

As a side note: this is the first positive post from you towards Nintendo in a long time. Did Nintendo just got you with the amiibo?

No I liked their overall conference a lot. This reminded me a lot more of the Nintendo from the 90s and it was good to see them deliver. Amiibo was maybe like 10th or 11th best thing about the show, it was a nice thing, but certainly not the best thing they showed.

Nice to hear that. Hopefully it will stay that way and you can enjoy Nintendo again. That's the most important about gaming: having fun with the offerings.

I mean to be completely honest I'm not sure it will be a hit. Still sounds kinda pointless to me overall and I don't know if it will actually generate any excitement or feel useful. But for a decent price I'm gonna get a handful!

But who will be the King?

This is the Game of Thrones

Where you either win

or you DIE

The WiiU always had kids locked down. Why do you think they almost exclusively advertise on channels like Disney or Nickelodeon? It should sell very well but I don't think it's a game changer.

I knew this would turn up sooner than later, can Nintendo do no wrongs in ppls eyes ? I like the commpany I grew up playing Nintendo games I own a WiiU but this is a gimmicky peripheral that doesnt help the WiiU in a bit and if it were Ms or Sony ppl would say it was a cash grab atempt but since its Nintendo its an awesome initiative somehow.

Seriously ppl drop the double standards.

well, I'd say yes and no. The thing is I found Nintendo was going to look at these and use them for multiple games and they'll have multiple purposed. Plus it sounded like you'd almost treat these as pets and you can take care, train them how you want and such. Sorry to say but I feel if Sony or Microsoft did these types of this, they'd just just exactly what skylanders and disney infinity did. You get the game and need the characters to play them. The game would depend on them where Nintendo did a bit more than that. These figures are not required for anything (at least not yet) where... for Microsoft and Sony... maybe not so much Sony but i'd think they give them to you and force you to use them. Microsoft already tried to force things on you once.

Theres so much we don't know about these so far...they have the potential to be really cool though.

I was thinking that there should be a "hub" game for all of these figures, but Nintendo didn't bring that to the table. Maybe sometime in the future...

I could see getting a few even as just figurines depending on cost.

I'm confused, I thought only hardcore Nintendo Fans bought the Wii U? That's what I was told before.

That's because hardcore Nintendo fans are little kids!

Joking, joking. Nintendo products have always sold well to kids because of their more family friendly image.
