Forums - Gaming Discussion - Strictly from a sales standpoint, who won E3?

Business-wise, who won E3?

Sony 315 48.09%

Nintendo 262 40.00%

Microsoft 78 11.91%

Total:655

Well, Sony seems to have gained more momentum going forward alongside the mcc if amazon is anything to go by.

Around the Network

Sony, very shortly followed by Microsoft, with Nintendo way way way behind.

all the major third parties coming this year will set the ps4 on fire similar to what happened with Watch_Dogs.. FIFA 15 is one that nobody has mentioned yet.

Destiny is like Titanfall. It will sell well at first but it's not the type of game that will change the situation. Games like Destiny have never tracked that high on sales numbers. The best FPS games of all time have trouble breaching the 10 million sales mark, why should destiny be any different. At best it will give a short boost to whatever numbers Sony is already getting with the PS4.

Nintendo however is exactly the type of company who can turn things around with even a single game. It's the benefit of being the most innovative company and its the proof that they are the innovative one.

All Nintendo had to do this E3 was ride the high they had going for them after Mario Kart's release. They planned that release date to just before E3 and they did it because they knew they had to go for the win this time.

Call of Duty seems to disagree with you.

Oh what a massive breach of 10 milliion that is, a whole 14 million on a single console during the prime of its lifetime.  The greatest selling FPS of all time sold 14 million....  Wii Fit sold 22 million.  Mario Kart Wii sold 35 million.  Yes I am not combining console sales from across multiple platforms since we are talking about single platforms here.  Destiny isn't call of duty so I am betting it sells around 7 or 8 million if it's lucky.  Most of those probably already have the console btw.

Titanfall is at 3 million, MGS4 did 6 million, The Last of Us did 4.5 million, Uncharted 2 and 3 did about 6.3 million each.  Are you saying that Destiny, a completely new franchise which may or may not even get a good review is gonna beat all of those?  Keep in mind this is a new game with new mechanics and the games I listed were reusing old code and had many of their bugs ironed out already.  Old franchises sell better than new ones at that.  You are completely ignoring all of this and think its gonna blow up the console scene?

Software sales Nintendo will be the big winner - Super Smash bros For 3DS, Super Smash bros for Wii U, Pokemon Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby, hyrule warriors, bayonetta 2, devil's third, plus amiibo and potentially mario party 10 from now until the end of the year. Nintendo will easily have the largest software sales.

Hardware Sony followed by microsoft then nintendo (home consoles)

Sony > MS > Nintendo

Damn... Them poll results, didn't expect Nintendo to come in second. Would like to hear reasoning :)

Now first. *sigh*

I'd say Microsoft easily. They had a very humble conference, showed nothing but games and showed they were dedication to the hardcore gamer. That Halo collection is also going to make a huge impact.

Sony had better 3rd party deal

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

I thought the Nintendo had the best conference but I think Halo Collection move the most units. Destiny is going to have more content on PS4 but it's still launching on other platforms. I don't know if Nitendo's software will push sales out side of their hardcore fans.

The thing was said about Watch dogs they say it won't boost ps4 because it's multiplatform Destiny will be huge on both consoles and will boost both consoles.

I have to agree with the people saying the Nintendo NFC. In terms of profits that has the greatest potential to net an impressive amount.
It's bloody Skylanders! But with Nintendo characters! CHA CHING!

Ka-pi already answered your post more coherently and smarter than I ever would.

The reality of the thing is that Destiny will easily outsell all of the games announced yesterday by Nintendo when you combine them. it will sell more units than there are WiiUs out there. And lifetime will outsell the entire WiiU console by a considerable margin.

That's a fact. If you wish, you can bookmark this and come back in about 6-9 months to check if I was wrong.

Comparing console FPSs to Wii games? What next, saying FPSs are rubbish becuase more people play mobile games?  Also, only taking one platform for COD is wrong, it sold really well on multiple consoles whether you like it or not, and if it had been exclusive it would have easily been between 20 and 30 million.

Yes, Destiny should beat all of those games. Most aren't even FPSs meaning Destiny already has more potential fans since the FPS fanbase is the largest.

except in all of gaming history as far as single console games go, they haven't ever topped that 14 million number I pulled up.  Grand Theft Auto San Andreas is at 20 million and that's a ridiculous comparison.  It's ridiculous to think something like Destiny will even break the 8 million goal I set for it.

Destiny has some exclusive content on the PS4, that's all.  I used those other games because they were the best selling shooting games I could think of for comparison.  Actual FPS games has the top 15 occupied exclusively by Call of Duty and Halo selling from 8-13 million.  Those were after the series had proven themselves.  The original Halo sold 6 million, Call of Duty was.... worse.
