I never said it will "save" Sony. If I did, please quote.
What I meant is Sony won't just cut the PS4's price this year, or even next year (or maybe for Christmas 2015, who knows ?).
Price drops occur when a product isn't doing great, or is getting old. Not when it's beasting like PS4 is !
Anyways, you can still wait a little longer, as you said. You'll have it for a nice price for sure ! But personnally ? Can't freaking wait for Uncharted's grand finale. :)
Just because you have an opinion doesn't mean you are necessarily right.

Its not about sony being in trouble or not being in trouble or of the PS4 selling well or not selling well. Its about install base. Look at it this way, at $400 per console sony is making a profit of around $30-$40 now on ever console sold. From royalties from third party games, they make around $10-$15 on every game sold. On average gamers buy around 10 games per year. This is taking into account that some will only buy like 3 games while theer are those that could buy as much as 15 games per year. Now if all those games are third party, which they are not, then sony makes $100-$150 per year on avergae from its each gamer that has a PS4.
The more people that have a PS4 the more people there are to make that $150 from. The profits made from each console sold is not enough to ignore the potential of making profits from software sales per customer. And this is not even considering PS+ subscriptions and peripheral sales. So what sony will do, whats in their best interest to do is pass on the savings to the sustomer as quickly as possible, but that in itself works in a certain kinda way.
Right now, making around $30 on every PS4 sold and selling so well, it means that not only is there no meaningful savings to pass on, teher is no reason to yet. If by this time next year they reduce their manufacturing costs and start making around $70 on every console sold, they will hold out till the ned of the year unless their hand is forced, then drop the price by $50 (and still make $20/console) or by $100 (and make -$30 per console). But this will spur sales and increase the growth rate of their install base.
