No, they did not.

Apart from Zelda U (which we knew was coming, about as exciting as Halo 5 or Uncharted 4) what huge things did they have to be excited about?

Let's see, apart from the amazing Zelda info and showcase, we got: more characters for smash bros + an incredible tournament, wich was the best way to showcase ACTUAL GAMEPLAY and hype the fans. X received a name as well as a story trailer and an AMAZING ACTUAL GAMEPLAY footage afterwards. Hyrule warriors ACTUAL GAMEPLAY was showcased and looks good for it's own audience. Bayonetta 2 including the first game was a great move. Splatoon, kirby canvas curse and Mario party 10 were announced, with splatoon being an interesting new IP and the other two using the gamepad in a great way and all three had ACTUAL GAMEPLAY shown. we also had devil's third announced as a wii u exclusive, star fox confirmed to be in development for wii u and the first ACTUAL GAMEPLAY and name of yoshi's wooly world. ther ewas also the toad game.

those were the wii u news, 3ds also got pokemon AS/OR footage and other announcements later in the treehouse.

Nintendo did all that in an amazing way, delivering  nonstop information throughout the day and stealing ALL the spotlights. Even though that's already enough to put nintendo's E3 above it's competitors combined, IT'S STILL NOT OVER. We know a new 3ds title will be revealed today. Nintendo thereehouse still has another 2 days of coverage for E3, so more games can be revealed.

Also I'd like to add, a much needed price cut may have edged out a Nintendo win.

Nintendo>Sony>>>>>MS

Yeah the longer this E3 goes on, with all the other stuff, the more I believe it's Nintendo's.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Presentation-wise, Nintendo really nailed it this year, and it's still going lol.

As far as games go, that's in the eyes of the beholder and has nothing to do with how well Nintendo put together E3 this year, like, they really did it super well and this is the future for E3 presentations IMO.

For me it's:

Nintendo >>>>>> Sony >>> Microsoft

This simply being based on the number of games they've shown I'm interested in:
Microsoft: 0
Sony: 1
Nintendo: at least 3

Nintendo had the best start. I mean Iwata and Reggie? How awesome was that? They even made a lot of fun of themselves. Great! Yarn Yoshi looks adorable! But then everything went worse: They talked too long about some games. Xenoblade X got the expected delay and there weren't so many big things we have not seen yet. I liked everything I saw but sometimes it wasn't just not that what I wanted. But that's the same with Sony and Microsoft: Great things but not the whole time.
Yes, I know that I overdo it because nethertheless E3 2014 was/is great and we saw a lot of awesome things but in every press conference/Digital Event there was something which could have been better. But that's nearly always the case. I know.
For me I really liked Ubisoft's media briefing. I enjoyed every second even if there were Just Dance and Shape Up. Assassin's Creed Unity just looks awesome! And Rainbow Six was a great surprise.

I don't hate Microsoft, I don't hate PC,
I don't prefer Sony, I don't prefer Nintendo.
...Ok, I love Nintendo but this is something about tolerance, ok?

I'm a gamer with one of the greatest hobbies and I want to share this greatness with everyone.

I have to admit Nintendo was a good surprise at this E3. They revealed several new games and some of them for genres not yet explored by Nintendo (such as Splatoon and Hyrule Warriors). Moreover, the new Zelda seems great in my opinion as the developer described its non-linear gameplay. But I must say the star was Splatoon. Seems fun, original and competitive. I haven't said this about a Nintendo game for a long time.

Microsoft and Sony were poor this time around and Ubisoft saved the night with the new Rainbow Six. Very hard to tell who won the E3 but I would rate as follow:
Microsoft: 5/10
EA: 4/10
Ubisoft: 7/10
Sony: 5/10
Nintendo: 7/10

Nintendo > Ubisoft > Microsoft > Sony > EA. In terms of games, sony is on par with microsoft.
Nintendo showed quite a few new IP's and other great games that got me interested. For me, they won.
