I have not seen website saying sony e3 was mindblowing. Some say they edge MS, some say MS won..

but none said sony's was MINDBLOWING. because it simply was not. It was good enough

Yep cause it was awesome and the best conference by far.

Edge found Sony's better. No website has said anything about Microsoft so far.

it had nothing i repeat nothing to do with being needed or about any one or the whole E3 conference, the movie theatre thing was just a PR stunt/Marketing strategy.  with that said, i think Sony played it safe, saw MS didnt show to many full on exclusive and being the PS4 still has more momentum behind it decided to not show thier full hand of games, we still have a few Sony 1st party studios who have yet to show what they are working on, Media Molecule is one that comes to mind.  you still have a few big game conferences coming up, TGS for one, Gamescon is another, i would be more shocked if they didnt show stuff at those that they didnt show here.  i honestly believe they showed just enough to keep them equal to MS in regards of games, they gave people a few exclusives that werent fully known, Bloodborn, LBP3,  they gave us info on Farcry 4 exclusive feature of invite a friend to co-op with you even if they dont own FC4, anounced new hardware in the form of PS tv and gave us info that if your a plus member youll have free access to that tv show(this part they should have skipped all together and just made it a bullet point.)

I admit I'm biased because Best E3 Thread and NintendoModeE3 were obvious the best places to watch.

Shawn Layden's bit nearly killed it though, not fit for movie theatre watching.
