Let me just preclude this by saying I own a PS4. There is this nagging feeling I can’t shake off after what I’ve seen these last 12 hours. (half of which I slept, but I still got to see everything)

What I felt after seeing the Sony conference is this. Games that were shown, vast majority of them, look very dark, too tech-driven, almost to the point of being mentally ill. Others look too pretentious and experimental. This is in stark contrast to Microsoft’s vibrant and fun-loving presentation of games. (for the most part)

There isn’t any joy I felt watching Sony’s games, there weren’t any laughs, no uplifting use of color or music. This, to me, is games going in the wrong direction. A sobering reminder that going more mature can result in the loss of the essence of life, of fun.

Anyone feel the same when they compare the two conferences? Or feel similar, and want to elaborate?

LBP 3 is dark?

What? I don't think we were watching the same conference. LB3, magicka 2, all those indies (bro force, not a hero, etc), entwined, etc. There were plenty of vibrant and energetic games. There is nothing wrong with mature games, we are a mature audience, I don't see the problem.

This is why you should care about new more interactive features to keep games from becoming like the disaster you've just described. (your words, about disaster)

The same olde monochromatic 2D classic controller games just can't cut it. You have to keep finding ways to make games a lot more interactive via the hardware.

But I mostly blame Western Developers for what you've just said.

Don't worry, Japanese games on all 3 companies Hardwares won't let us down. Well not often anyways.

LBP 3, No Man's Sky, Entwinted, Ratchet and Clank reboot all scream mature and gore to me.

Plus you had Dead Island 2 reveal which was exactly colourful, goofy and fun.

Fortunately we have both those types of games. I look forward the most towards The Order and Uncharted, someone else might look forward to LBP and R&C

Bloodborne is a family friendly game. I highly enjoy you pick it up, because you know FROM deserves an extra sale.
