Nice cherry picking.  Let's look at the domestic box office (the subject of this discussion) for his most recent movies (since 2007) with domestic gross and production budget:

6/23/10     Knight & Day        $76,423,035        $117 million
12/16/11   Ghost Protocol        $209,397,903    $145 million

4/19/13     Oblivion            $89,107,235        $120 million

Besides MI: Ghost Protocol, these are all bombs.  And this is only production budget, add in the marketing budget and it's really ugly.  The fact that you had to add in the international grosses to make your point just proves that you have no leg to stand on.  Cruise is on the decline in the US.  Most people don't want to support a Scientology whackjob, it's that simple.

Kinda a contridiction there bud. If you knew anything about movies then you'd know that just about 80% of movies depend on international markets to make a profit. To say that only domestic numbers should count as any indication of a movie success is absoutely ridiculous and you should be ashamed of yourself for even mentioning it. It's blatantly obvious that youre just incredibly butthurt and bias agains TC. Either way there's just one thing you need to get through your head. He's has hits for 4 decades now. He's already a legend. Nothing will change that, it can't be taken away, and he will continue to make great succesful films despite efforts by butthurt people like you. To think Domestic box office is all that matters is such a narrow minded mentality.

Since the ENTIRE thread is about his movies bombing in NORTH AMERICA, including international number is irrelevant and ridiculous.  You need a course in reading comprehension.

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocal did 200 m in North America.. and almost 700 million worldwide..   in 2011..  YEARS after "jumping on the couch"..   Has not been bomb after bomb..   Worldwide his movies always make back their budgets and MORE..      Start living in reality. :)

(I know he's dead).

Well for me it's because Cruise is in it. The guy is in everything and to be completely honest is an OKAY actor. Also, I knew a guy that looked kind of like him that was a real jerk so that probably doesn't help.

Just because he was probably not raised properly, left home to become a star, changed his name from Mapother to Tom Cruise, and accepted Scientology. What does that have to do with him being a very charismatic actor? Who has been nominated for plenty of Awards.

He has been apart of some of the best movies of all time. Has he done anything really terrible like lets say Mel Gibson has? No. For some reason he just got sucked into something that maybe for him, makes sense.

No reason to miss out on some of the best movies of all time. Including this one. Very good movie. B+

Maybe not a great actor, but always a lot of fun and charismatic.

His beliefs don't deserve any special treatment versus the rest.  South Park wasn't a problem until they started making fun of scientology.  I have a problem with how he tried to use his star power to try and silence the critique then having said nothing about it before.

I don't care how good of an actor he is, who he really is, glares right through it and I just won't spend any money that will end up in his pocket.
