Amy Adams is also a Scientology/Mormon nut job. Why does the Superman 3D movies make good money?

Where do you get your erroneous information?

Everywhere.

You didn't know?

LOL.  Didn't take much effort for me to find out that she is a non-practicing Mormon and has nothing to do with Scientology.  Did you actually have a point?

But she was raised by people like Mitt Romney/Tom Cruise.

Anyways, if Tom Curise where to become a non-pratcing scientologist/Mormon, then would he be treated differently for the better for people to see his movies?

If he came out and said he was no longer practicing/supporting Scientology, it would certainly change things.

I thinkiIt got overshadowed by Malificent, the marketing on that one was just too big but I liked Edge of Tomorrow better. Its a good movie.

For me, Tom Cruise is to action what Will Ferrell is to comedy. When I see them on my screen, I turn my head, cover my ears and go "blah blah blah."

If I ever miss a film that's supposedly good in theaters, I can just borrow it from the library shortly after it hits DVD.

She was raised by her parents, who happened to be religious, just like a lot of people.

People's faith does not affect their acting abilities and this thread is sadly filled with delusional people thinking it does matter. Him denouncing his scientology won't affect his ability as an actor at all, all it might do is make him a more likeable person but maybe his eccentric behavior is just him. Not sure why you are even bringing Mormonism into this at all.

Hmm, pie.

A shame as it's a very good film all should see, there's been many good sci-fi films recently, it's good to see, maybe Hollywood has gotten over the mythical adventure fetish it's recently had. US audience are weird though too, they probably think "It's set in Europe, why would I want to see that?"

Silly USAians.

Yeah, that's why Americans hated the Harry Potter and LOTR / Hobbit movies.... they got funny accents and the movies aren't set in 'murica.

Please don't generalize.  I read The Hobbit when I as 9, and the LOTR series when I was 10-11.  I loved the movies, and I'm American.  I didn't 'hate' the Harry Potter movies, I simply didn't grow up with the books, so it didn't have as much of a connection to me.

You'd be 100% wrong.

Yeah, I probably underestimated the Cruise effect.  Let say 90-10.

I actually thought most were over his Crazy antics. I mean, he has made War of the Worlds, MI4, and other great movies since then.

I just have a problem with supporting anyone/anything where the money will end up, even indirectly, supporting Scientology.   I'm definitely not alone.  Doesn't matter how good the movie is.

LOL. Since he jumped on the couch, it's bomb after bomb.  Stop living in the past.

ROFL Jack Reacher a 60 milliom dollar movie made made 4 times its budget and also 100m more than 2 guns starring Washington and Wahlberg. It also made more than Safe House with Washington and Reynolds,  and Unstoppable, or you could look at it from the point of view that it made the exact same amount as Captain Phillips a movie that had countless award nominations and practically the same budget. Oblivion was profitable, and Ghost Protocol made 700m world wide. Edge will go on to make money as well.

If you're going to make shit up as you go along at least try to be midly enterataining.

Nice cherry picking.  Let's look at the domestic box office (the subject of this discussion) for his most recent movies (since 2007) with domestic gross and production budget:

11/9/07     Lions for Lambs      $15,002,854 $35 million
12/25/08   Valkyrie            $83,077,833 $75 million
6/23/10     Knight & Day        $76,423,035        $117 million
12/16/11   Ghost Protocol        $209,397,903    $145 million
6/15/12     Rock of Ages        $38,518,613        $75 million
12/21/12   Jack Reacher        $80,070,736        $60 million
4/19/13     Oblivion            $89,107,235        $120 million
6/6/14       Edge of Tomorrow    $28,760,246        $178 million

Besides MI: Ghost Protocol, these are all bombs.  And this is only production budget, add in the marketing budget and it's really ugly.  The fact that you had to add in the international grosses to make your point just proves that you have no leg to stand on.  Cruise is on the decline in the US.  Most people don't want to support a Scientology whackjob, it's that simple.

Kinda a contridiction there bud. If you knew anything about movies then you'd know that just about 80% of movies depend on international markets to make a profit. To say that only domestic numbers should count as any indication of a movie success is absoutely ridiculous and you should be ashamed of yourself for even mentioning it. It's blatantly obvious that youre just incredibly butthurt and bias agains TC. Either way there's just one thing you need to get through your head. He's has hits for 4 decades now. He's already a legend. Nothing will change that, it can't be taken away, and he will continue to make great succesful films despite efforts by butthurt people like you. To think Domestic box office is all that matters is such a narrow minded mentality.

I was walking down along the street and I heard this voice saying, "Good evening, Mr. Dowd." Well, I turned around and here was this big six-foot rabbit leaning up against a lamp-post. Well, I thought nothing of that because when you've lived in a town as long as I've lived in this one, you get used to the fact that everybody knows your name.

edit.
